The Big Cat...

i'm still torn whether to respect or hate him for leaving. i respect him for showing us that it's not about the money but the desire to play in a different scheme. but then again i hate him for saying he wouldn't return to the team period. not saying i want it to happen but would a cowher/capers combo get him to change his mind? pep would get his wish as we'd most definitely be switching to some form of aggressive 3-4.

I am sure Mr. Richardson feels betrayed / hurt a little right now..... I hope he channels his resentment towards Fox and Trgovac for pretty much orchestrating the best defensive player we have ever had into no longer having the desire to play for his hometown. You never hear guys like Dawkins or Ray Lewis say that about their respective clubs. The guy was a hometown talent, loved by many in the region and helped sell Jerseys and tickets.... Mr. Richardson seems to take a paternal figure for many of his players so I am confident that he feels as if he is losing a son that he raised for 7 years.

This ain't the damn hallmark channel.... All the Big Cat did was when a Defensive Leader for our team retired, he looked at a underachieving loof and asked him to be a leader... I guess that it is the big cat's fault that he did not realize that football leaders are born (Beason) and not bought (Peppers).

Actually, yes, it is his fault. You don't publicly call out someone who is as private as Peppers is and state he needs step up in a leadership role (insinuating that something was lacking and needed to be pointed out). Telling him he needs to step up is one thing, but that forum was the wrong time and place...that conversation should have taken place in private.

Jerry Richardson is a fine man and probably, if not the best, then one of the top 5 owners in the league. Think of who could own this team, Jerry Jones, Dan Synder, Al DAvis.

I think I tend to agree with Charlie Casserly's thoughts, paraphrased, 'Peppers is best suited to a 4-3. The Panthers did all they could to help him excel and if he didn't, its his own fault.'

I guess I kinda feel like, although someone said it before me, I'd rather have 11 no-names who play together and as a unit, then 10 players and one superstar who plays when he wants to.

I just hope we can get a combination of players and draft picks for him. Our DL, not good, our secondary, suddenly porous.

We'll see.
