New Theory on why Fox said what he said.

"then he is not going to name jimmy the starter for the entire season after one relatively good performance. Much like he didn't name moore the starter last season after one good game."

i'm a little lost here. Are you saying clausen's first start yesterday was "one relatively good performance?"

sorry, i'm not onboard with that synopsis of his game yesterday at all. I thought clausen was terrible yesterday. If we were going to compare moore and clausen, which i don't believe is fair to either qb to begin with, their respective performances were all terrible.

fox won't name a starter this soon because clausen got crushed on the panther's final offensive play and it took him 5 minutes to get off the field. he may very well be concussion tested today.

lmao

Stop with the freud, it was minutes after the game. Last week he wouldn't say who would be the starter either, least till tuesday. My guess, come Tuesday he will say Jimmy is the starter unless he is hurt. Although, I could actually see him go back to Moore, just so Clausen wouldn't be starting his second game in the Superdome against a pissed off New Orleans team.

An issue I have with your theory is why would he really even worry about disrespecting Moore? It's not like they will be working together next year anyway. Fox will be fired and Moore will be not be offered another contract.

Damn right. Moore is like water under the bridge now. Moore is angry, ok, but angry nevertheless. Fox prolly did not think Moore was suited, or he might have started him earlier last season. Moore panned out the way Fox had figured, more than likely, and so you cannot put Moore back in. Fox tossed the dice! Let's hope for the best, Clausen stays healthy!

Why would we not offer Moore another contract. Even if you don't think he has the ability to be a good starter you can't deny he has proven to be one hell of a back-up.

I think if Fox were worried about disrespecting Moore he wouldn't have waited until our eleventh game last year to start him in the first place.

Why did he refuse to name Clausen the starter? Well, for one, Fox never says anything definite -- even when it's readily apparent that he's going to go with Clausen. For another, it may be his way of letting Jimmy know that his job is not secure. That could be a good thing or a bad thing, I guess.
