True, but not all of us are fortunate enough to a) be close enough to the stadium to make every home game, or a majority. B) have the time/money to make more than a game, maybe 2 all year.

I want to make the Bears game or some game in the second half of the season (most likely December during my Christmas break from college, as I will be in Cleveland County then and it's a pretty reasonable drive and I will definitely have the cash to do it). It all just depends on the circumstance for some of us. I've been to a few games in my time, so I know how the fans are when I've been there, standing and cheering for the team I love and live vicariously through (sport IS a religion after all).

Just saying, don't be quick to judge people just because they may not be PSL owners or they don't make 6 of the 8 home games. People have their reasons for not making games.

On the flip side, if you HAVE the means for making games and you bitch about it, STFU and buy a damn ticket.

I drive from Cleveland County every game and yeah it isn't that far. For that matter I drive from Shelby to Grrenville NC for ECU home games (4 1/2 hours one way) so really any where in NC or SC is close enough to drive.

I don't have any animosity toward others who do or don't go to a game I just get tired of all the shots from people who don't go to the games but criticize those of us who do as bad fans.

But unless you are there every week rooting for the team you don't have a dime in it nor can you throw stones because you aren't part of the solution. You are like others who whine and complain about the poor fan base but you are no better. You aren't there nor are you filling up all those seats with Panther fans so there aren't any for the opposition.

I get tired of fair weather fans who sit on their butts at home and whine about the poor fan base at the game. At least we are out there in the heat and rain supporting our team instead of sitting at home whining.

I usually make three or four games a season. If you can afford to go to every home game then maybe you can afford to buy me a nose bleed seat for those I can't afford.

A "fair weather fan" is one that jumps on the band wagon when we go to the SB and leaves when we lose. A "poor fan" is one that can't afford to go to all the home games. They aren't the same.

Well, first you have to appreciate where I'm coming from. When I was at the Arizona playoff game, I was down in the 100s (with a family member) and we were going nuts the whole game. I was asked to sit and quit waving my towel by more than one person around me. I had a guy in the row above me get escorted out for being too "loud and vulgar" (basically, all he said was, "GET OFF YOUR ASS, JAKE!"). So, yeah, it may just be the wine and cheesers who are the crappy fans.

I've sat in the 500's, and those guys are what I consider, "my kinda people". Standing over 90% of the game and loud for at least that much of it. So, on the whole, we've still got a pretty calm crowd, IMO. It's hard to get mathematical with it as far as percentages of the crowd. Upper deck fans know how to come to a game (drunk and loud, baby!). :yesnod:

You didn't answer my question, how many games did you go to last year or this??

As for the 500 level vesus the 100s, I wouldn't know I am always in the cheap seats since my PSLs are in the 544 section.

I see your point. I also live in Shelby. Good chance my dad or myself knows you. It really isn't that far from where I'm at now, it'd be make-able (I'm up in Madison County) which is why I'm considering the Bears game. But a December game would just make more sense. Plus, I will be 21 and can get more easily "pre-gamed".

Last year I didn't simply because I didn't have the means. I was offered a ticket for less than retail price, still couldn't afford it. Like I said, its not ALWAYS a matter of not taking the time to go, sometimes you just can't do it. I was in Wilmington at the time. Again, I plan on making at LEAST 1 this year (but maybe 2 if I can budget like I want).

Actually a fair weather fan is just that, a fan who goes to games in fair weather . It has comes to include bandwagoners, those who support us when we win etc. For example most of the folks there today are definitely not fair weather fans.

Were you there today???

That is fine no one is saying anything bad about you if you can't afford tickets. I am just saying that if you aren't there making noise then don't criticize those of us who do.

Hell, give me a ticket I can afford, I will go while its pouring rain with no jacket just to have that 52 across my torso showing. Should be set by the end of next week money wise. God I can't wait to make one. Buddy of mine here at school actually made the game today.

Understandable. Just know, I respect the work you and fans like you do as far as making the noise you do make. I just wish there were MORE of that and less of the wine and cheesers. Even with them, its pretty loud at the start. They at least clap a good bit, which adds something.

I'll tell you, it is much easier to yell and scream when the team gives you something to yell about. Hasn't been much to get excited about this year or most of the last.

Was there a good deal of booing in the 2nd half today? I thought maybe I was hearing things, but I thought I heard it a lot. I know it happens when things like Jake's Arizona game happen, but today wasn't even close to that.

Anyone that can and does go to every home game is a great fan. Nothing I've said is directed towards them. Nothing I've said is directed to those who can't afford to go and watch from home. My complaint is everyone that has lived here all their lives and pull for another team because "I've always pulled for ________." If they fill that blank with "The Cowboys" I have a special disdain for them.

And for anyone wanting to donate a seat.... I prefer nose bleed seats because you can see the whole play develop.

This is my first thread post. This is my biggest beef and its not with the Panthers. Its with the "fan base." Or lack there of.

Since I was old enough to know about the game I've wanted a home team. I've now got one. From 1955 to 1994 I've pulled for Huff and the Giants, Huff and the Skins, Tarkenton and the Vikes, Payton and the Bears, The Falcons because they were the closest thing to home. And the Canadians over the Cowturds. When the Panthers came to town I (we) now have a home team. It is disgraceful the home support they get! All I hear from Carolinian's is "I've always pulled for ___________. All I can say to these people is "kiss my ____!" You are part of the problem! When I go to a game and see half the stadium in the opposing teams colors I want to puke! And worse yet wheather we are winning by 20 or losing by 20 by the beginning of the 4th quarter Panther fans are outnumbered because everyone leaves but the opposing teams fans. Just once I'd like to see the Panther fans get a delay of game penalty.

I was one of those 15,000 cheering in that muddy field for a team that didn't exist yet so I feel where you're coming from... Having said that, we ain't there yet.

We have little to no history.

We have no Lombardis.

We have few to zero parents who raised their kids on the Panthers.

History: My wife is a Packers fan and last Sunday I got to take he to Packers v Bills. It was a surprise for her. We went to their HOF and spent almost 2hrs looking at their history. (I found out I'm now related to Paul Hornung by marriage. Awesome.) When we were about to go to our seats she stopped and grabbed my arm at the mouth of the tunnel. She was nervous. We sat with a couple who's kids couldn't make the game, (thats why they sold us the tickets.) His parents had had season tickets since he could remember, they left them to him. Her parents also had them. We met them after the game. Then we found that their grandparents had season tickets too.

The Panthers are far too young for that.

Lombardis: I was a grad student at UCONN when the Pats won their first SB. I saw the explosion of fans. I also saw the Cowboys play the Broncos in the SB. Live. (Uncle Earl scored tickets.) I was a Cowboy fan until 96. (95 I split my loyalty) watching a team win it all creates diehard fans.

Parents: I'm a lot younger than you. (I wasn't aware of football until '75) but I am blessed with 10 godchildren. They have grown up with thePanthers. I hope with all my hope and pray with everything I learned in church that you get to see their generation atBOA. They are the 100%ers. And oh... it will be glorious.
