Evidence that Peppers is a Hypocrite?

Didn't see this posted so move if need be.

I thought that I remembered that Peppers said he didn't want to play in a 3-4 so I dug around and found this from a while ago:

A former "4" (power forward) for The University of North Carolina hoops team, Peppers learned that battling inside on the gridiron is a whole different ballgame. His production slipped in those and he looked, according to one pro scout, hesitant.

He didn't hesitate recently when asked about the 3-4 experience.

"I really don't like being down inside," said Peppers, who, at home on the edge, has posted eight of his 10 sacks this season in the past six games. "I feel like when I'm down in that area like a tackle, I don't feel like I'm being used properly. It's hard, because you have to be a lot more run conscious and a lot more physical, which, being physical, that's no problem for me. But I'd rather get on the edge and rush the passer."

The read between the lines would be that he didn't want to be an end in the 3-4. It is now being reported that he would prefer to play outside as a linebacker, thereby utilizing his rush skills more freely. Ala DeMarcus Ware.

It's all about the agent

Peppers' agent filled his head with lies...telling him to take it easy last year so that he doesn't get hurt going into his contract year

Peppers' agent doesn't have many big name clients and knows that this is probably his (the agents) one big payday. He gets what? 10%?

Peppers' agent wants Peppers to leave Carolina as a FA so that he (the agent) can get his big payday and notoriety to lure other big athletes

He (the agent) cannot get big name notoriety by negotiating a re-signing deal

The agent wants more money and clients and is using Peppers and filling peppers head with lies "Oh, you will be the greatest ever if you go to a 3-4" and "You are not being used to your full potential"

Stupid agent

I think he wants to be a DE/OLB not a DE in the 3-4.

exactly

He wants to be a DE/OLB hybrid.

They defend the run in run situations and pass rush/zone defend in pass situations. To beat a 3-4 you beat it running the ball inside because of their speed on the outside with the hybrid DE/OLBs. This means the 2 DE/OLBs have even more pressure defending the run inside and is what peppers was referring to.

we wants to be an OLB in a 3-4, not a DE.

plus the statement was from an article with this date: December 15, 2004

things change.

so he wants to change positions at 30? lol

It is a DE/OLB hybrid.... ie: Ware, Harrison, Woodley

All are shorter than Peppers by atleast 3-4 inches. Harrison (defensive player of the year) is 6ft even 240 compared to Peppers 6ft 7 290. The advantage guys like Harrison has is their quickness/leverage compared to larger OTs.
