I thought Clausen looked good...

I haven't been a huge Clausen guy but as poorly as Moore played it was the right move to start Clausen.

I like the kid's moxy, pocket presence, all that stuff. Decision-making was good (throwing the ball out of bounds is not the worst thing in the world!), he scrambled a few times to get positive yards, and even that one interception he threw wasn't a horrible play.

He's the future QB, like it or not. Keep him in the starting lineup.

At least Clausen doesn't throw 3 picks in 1 game and have them all be in the endzone and then fumble twice as well. At least Clausen can take a hit. At least Clausen completed a full game this season and not have a need to be yanked for a backup QB. At least Clausen went 15/26 for 154 yards and completed a deep pass to somebody not named Steve Smith. Seems like you are one of the few people who can't see this. Matt Moore would have been no better today, and might have been worse.

He played worse earlier in the year against a bucs defense that just got lit up by Charlie Batch. At least the Bengals made Joe Flacco look bad by giving hima 4 int game last week.

Matt improved from his first game and you know that whether you want to admitt it or not. His performance last week was better than Jimmy's. Despite his awful performance he was still able to find Smith and score 2 touchdowns.

Despite this "better" QB play, Jimmy has none. In the end that is what matters.

Seems like you want to continue to perpetuate a line of thought that's incorrect around here to begin with: Giving a rookie more credit than he should get or deserve. Period.

The fact is this offense is no better off. And I'm pretty sure I'm not one of the "few". There are a few folks who see it the way it is. Here's another fact, Jimmy also doesn't have a more hyped back-up breathing down his back....if he didn't have the name and he was in Matt's shoes he would have gotten benched at half time after 6 yards of total passing offense.

Once he settled down he looked like a very promising rookie. The mistakes he made were either from lack of experience or are easily fixable. Don't bench him now an ruin his confidence. We are no where near a playoff team this season, leave him in, get a top 5 pick, kick tail next season with an experienced Clausen. The end.

We have no other alternative.

Go Panthers.

LOL! I like this guy. Id rather have a QB who throws 1 td pass and throw 3 int. Then have a QB who throws 1 int but we rush for 3 tds? Thats pretty much what your saying right? Because the point of a qb is to throw td's?

I'm sorry....we rushed for 3 TD's? Which fantasy world do you live in?

Jimmy had ONE decent drive today. ONE.

And again that was Matt's first game and the first game of the season. His second game, the one he got benched in, he had 1 pick and 1 touchdown. Which all I said was, it's better than 1 pick and 0 touchdowns.

And I can't f**king understand how you can even attempt to spin that one!

PS: And if you are talking about a game manager QB....then don't even bring up Jimmy. He didn't show any of that today. Besides Jimmy was supposed to be the answer for a passing game, not just another game managing QB.

people expecting more out of a rookie in his first start playing on a team that hasn't got it's crap together are living in a fantasy world.

he looked like crap the first half but who really didn't expect that might happen?

once he settled down a little in the second half he looked a little better. i just want to see improvements every week and i have no reason to believe we won't.

there are a lot more problems than jimmy in there but i know that he needs to stay in there and take his lumps and keep moving forward.

no one believed that clausen coming in would fix everything right away. it's just going to take time but it will be worth it.

still, i'm looking forward to getting a new coach in here.

Not true. A lot of guy I have been arguing against for a week were thinking just that.

quotes or it didn't happen.

next question

back it up or shut it up.

You are beyond ingorant and blind and there is no reason to respond to you anymore. I don't know how 6 of 16 and benched can be seen as something positive. Matt Moore last season deserved a shot at starting this year. Matt Moore this season doesn't even deserve to be in this league. They tried to give Matt his shot to keep the job. You are giving Moore credit when he should be getting none. The Bengals have the toughest defense of the three teams we have faced. The Bucs are bad and the Giants are bad. Moore couldn't do anything to them. Clausen deserved to start and I see no reason why he wouldn't start next week.

Get over it and start supporting your QB. The kid showed improvement during the game.

You really don't think we can fix these problems and get hot we havent had one game we were really beatdown or dominated. Every game we are right there and nfc is pretty ugly let's check the standings week 8.

I was really happy with Jimmy. The only thing that bugs me is the C-QB exchange.

need those two to set aside some time together and make the switch from Moore to a JC.

Once he figures out how to receive the snap and is set up to succeed with palycalling he'll be awesome. I liked what I saw when they let him play today...

The problem was our first half silly run 3x and out and most important 8 min T.O.P. we barely had the ball being out coached on 4th downs and most third downs. He only passed what six times in the first half.

lol. That wasnt my point, I never said we rushed for 3 tds today haha.(I wish) My point was you saying because moore threw a td and clausen didnt he is better than clausen? I would take 0 ts passes + 1 int. over 1 td pass and 3 int. and 2 fumbles. Just saying

Notice the ? mark. Im not putting words in your mouth lol. Im just asking.

It seems like YOU are the one with unrealistic expectations for a rookie. I had been saying all week for people not to expect much because of the Bengals defense. I said Moore wouldn't be any better either and I firmly believe that. You can look that up.

Stop expecting greatness and come back down to earth.

yeah, clausen and kalil will for sure need to work that crap out.

i am positive that those two will be putting in extra time to get on the same page. it's obvious that was a problem but when you have two players with the work ethic they have, i don't see it as being a problem for long.

Wrong. I was always on the side cautioning others NOT to expect anything from Jimmy and believed he was behing over-hyped against his favor BECAUSE I didn't expect him to do much better than Moore did.

And what I'm saying, that's exactly what ended up happening, with the sole difference in that I DID hope for at least ONE passing touchdown and we got none. And there are STILL people that want to look at a sub-par performance and calling it something more than what it is.

Does that mean I think he will always be this bad? No. I hope and expect to see improvement. I hope he starts next week. The problem on this board so many people have NO middle ground. NONE.

Jimmy supporters wanted to see NOTHING good in Matt and NOTHING bad in Jimmy. They all use Matt's first game to compare him to Jimmy, ignoring the fact that he did better last week. He also produced a passing touchdown and Jimmy's numbers or playing wasn't a noticeable improvement over Matt's. Not the first week, but compared to last week.

Unfortunatelly, Jimmy has a name. That's the ONLY reason you guys are backing him up with this much credit. Any other guy with that kind of performance and this board would be trashing him. THAT's what I call giving him TOO MUCH credit. He's done nothing worth pointing to yet, and people credit him with the "promise of greatness."

He doesn't deserve it. I will wait and see it. But I wil also admitt it when I do. I have no interest in Jimmy failing. I do have an interest in the right QB leading this team and Jimmy did nothing today to tell me he belongs there any more than Matt did.

The end.
