I thought Clausen looked good...

I agree. But then why not just admitt that, and instead say something that ain't true?

Matt should have looked much better. But he did also improve from his first to his second game. No telling if he could have improved even further this past week if he had played. Matt is not as green as Jimmy, but he's green too and can hardly be considered a vet. And last year, he won 4 out of 5 games. Why overlook that too?

And why waste time? For the same reason people are saying Delhomme was not out best QB. This board is notorious for jumping on bandwagons too early, and off of them just as fast, in the process trashing guys that "used" to be good to the point of where we don't want to remember they did some great things for us.

Why be like that?

we jumped off the jake wagon too fast? lol

it's sad that we can consider jake our best QB ever. i like him a lot but as a QB he was average at best over the course of his career here. for every good year he had, he had a really bad year.

the bar was set low with him and we proved it by being happy with moore. sure, he was ok a few games last year but he should have built on that success but instead he sucked. he didn't play at a higher level. he lost the job because he wasn't significantly better than clausen when he should have been. he had every reason and every opportunity given to be miles ahead of clausen and when he wasn't then there was no reason to stick with him since he is only under a one year deal and we have clausen around for longer.

we moved on at the right time. much better to do that compared to staying on for much too long like we did with jake. of course you probably think we bailed on jake too early as well.

No that's not what I'm talking about.

I'm talking about statements and the general opinion around here that Steve Beuerlein or the other scrubs was a better QB with this team than Jake.

I agree, we jumped off Jake much too late.

Matt Moore was not given a fair shot. 7 quarters on a horrible football team. Give me a break! He started 7 games previous to this season and played pretty darn good. Given the team he had to play with this season. He was the first victim of drive killing dropped passes, fumbles, and penalties, and yes, int's. Do you really think he will ever throw 3 int's in the endzone ever again? Doubtful. Does he regret it? Duh. Was he betrayed by this organization? Hell yes!! I still believe Matt is a solid QB and if he was given a fair shot he could have led this team to some wins. But 7 quarters and bench him for the over-hyped rookie. He deserved much better and I hope he gets a FAIR shake next year somewhere else. As for Jimmy, I think he will be fine eventually. Time will tell. Some of you are saying that he reads D's well and I saw him staring down everyone of his recievers the entire game. His int was a perfect example. Watch the replay if you recorded it. Everybody says he was very accurate, I didn't see that. Quick release? Ez to do with a 2 step drop and throw. And arm strength is average at best. The one thing I liked was his shiftiness in the pocket. He had a couple nice escapes out of collapsed pockets Then he would scramble and throw the ball out of bounds. Interesting. The same crap MM had to deal with. No protection and no recievers = No where to go. They pulled the plug on MM way too soon. Its a shame.

Ok, I've been trying to stay out of this argument since we all know I'm a Clausen homer but seriously...Steve was a much better QB than was Jake!

I would go out on a limb and say if we had him at QB with the talent Jake had we would have multiple winning season...in a row even!

I have also stayed out of the argument and followed both Beuerlein and Delhomme throughout their career. Was Steve better than Jake? lets contain the discussion to as a Panther. Steve had the best year of either guy when he completed 60% of his passes, had 4436 yards and a great 36 TDs to 15 Ints with a 7.8 yards per attempt and a passer rating of 94.6 even while absorbing 50 sacks. Jakes best year statistically was in 2004 when he completed 58% of his passes for 3886 yards, 7.3 yards per attempt, and a passer rating of 87.3. He had 29 TDs, 15 Ints that year.

But in Steve's career here his teams never finished above 8-8 and they never made the playoffs. Sure it likely had to do with supporting talent but one of the biggest markers of a quarterback is their winning percentage and between Jake and Steve as a Panther it isn't close. Jake also had a much better playoff record given Steve had none for us. Plus when it came down to who was money in the fourth quarter, Jake was much better.

So no Steve wasn't better as a Panther and really I would say that Steve had better talent than Jake in 1999 versus Jake in 2004 for example. Jake was the best quarterback we have ever had bar none. Unfortunately the way we ended with him put a bad taste in people's mouth. But he was our best guy and before he got hurt, money.

But given that this is old news, I am not going to go on and on for pages. These kind of discussions get even more tedious than the Clausen - Moore debates. At least they are still on the team though.

Bengals' defense >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Tampa's defense.

Besides, how fair is it to factor in MM's second game of the season against Clausen's first game of the season? MM's first game rating was 32.6, Clausen's was 50+.

This. compare their first games and Clausen was better against a better team and in worse conditions. The end.

In this case:

"Over-hyped rookie" > Over-hyped veteran

I watch the game for the second time I don't believe that second time he lost the ball was all him. It look as if the center cut left as he was hiking it and it got caught on his leg and pulled it from clausen hand. The first one they didn't get a good camera view on. Now that first throw to steve smith was a bad throw and I don't understand why steve let hall get the inside on him like that. Not been there and seeing it hall must have slipped or something and clausen throw the ball and hall made it there maybe. dunno But all the other passes looked good and the recievers should have caught them. maybe the one to lefall was high in the inzone.
