Smith is real angry now. I'm finally excited.

Not really. What's Smith going to do? He hits someone and his career is done. He's under contract for less time than our rookie QB. True, he could bark a lot and split the locker room, but then.. again.. he's gone. And honestly, if he's going to revert to being an ass the moment he doesn't like his touches, he needs to be gone. We're reforming around other, younger, players.

Anyways, Smith was whining early last year too.

You obviously are missing the point. He isn't going to hit someone, he learned from that already. But Clausen wants to be the leader in the locker room and command the player's respect. That comes when a rookie wins the respect of the veterans. Smith carries weight in the locker room. If you alienate him you create a divide in the locker room. That causes problems even for a veteran. But for a rookie, it is not something he can afford. His hold on the team is very tenuous at best right now.

Rookies are safer on our new Panthers team than vets are. I also don't think Smith throwing a temper tantrum (whoa he never does that) is going to have anywhere near the impact in our locker room that you believe it will.

So Clausen throws to an open TE or another reciever? We been bitching about that for years. I thought in the second half we played much better and had a chance to win, but the turnovers were to much. Look guys, Smitty is the man, but he ain't no damn leader. Instead of "doing what he do" on the sidelines, how about talking to Clausen about what the "team" should do to win. Forcing the ball to Smiity gets you, a) Playing for Cleveland B) Sittting on a wet and cold bench! c) throwing a interception in the 1st half that could led to points.

y'all don't fuging read a damn thing.. it's hilarious.. lol

All P55 is sayin is that Smitty was open multiple times and Clausen has to figure out how to work with Smitty.. (well I'm paraphrasing.. because Clausen hasn't had much time to work with the guy)

has nothing to do with finding other open receivers... those open receivers don't happen every play, so the only point is get the ball to Smitty when he IS open..

and how do you come up with a response like "What's Smitty going to do? hit him and his career is over"..

oh really? and how does that pertain to the point? and who really thinks Smitty is ever going to punch someone again?

AHHHHHHHHHH.. this forum has just turned ignorant as f**k...

Receivers like Smith, Fitzgerald, Andre/Calvin Johnson, Brandon Marshall, etc(basically elite receivers) are different than what Clausen is used to throwing to. They're the kind of receivers who don't have to be wide open to make plays. You can't expect a rookie quarterback to come in and thread the needle into double+ coverage or take huge risks even though there is a good chance Smitty would end up beating the defenders for the ball.

He's going to need to step up and make those risky throws eventually, but at the moment he just needs to take what the defense gives him and lean on the run game. Unfortunately, the run game hasn't exactly been stellar :\

Clausen's chemistry with Smith will come in time. I don't know about you guys but I definitely don't want to see the day when Smitty is sitting on the bench emotionless not caring about the game..

If Darren Sharper stays injured for New Orleans then Smitty will go off for over a hundred yards with two bombs for touchdowns, and then we'll all look back on this as a silly conversation.

Even if he is there, the first deep ball that hits Smitty in stride for a huge gain will end all of this tomfoolery.

I was at the game and yeah there were several times Smitty was open and Clausen didn't even look his way after the interception. Smitty is the kind of guy who makes catches even when covered.

And read what I have posted, I have no hate for Clausen I am just being realistic. Clausen has no confidence in his deep ball and doesn't throw it unless it is at the end of the game and he has nothing to lose. Truth is that this is just one of the many things he needs to learn. Not throwing to your best receiver is a sure recipe for sitting on the bench

So your making this assesment after one game???? Or you talk to Jimmy on the regular and at lunch today he told "Man I have no confidence in my deep ball poo Im only going to throw deep at the end of the game when I have nothing to lose" please stop with the ignorance please throughout his college career he threw tons of deep balls who's to say he wont here. He needs reps with his starters Im going to let you keep believing that tell Jimmy to holla at me if he wants to play some ping pong:idea:

True we need to spread the ball around as much as possible to make people respect our other options PERIOD POINT BLANK. The more others show they are capable the more teams slowly stop putting 3 people on one player and laugh at the other recieving options. Smitty my favorite panther doesnt handle situations like this in a way to be productive he just whines then goes back to work hard as hell but his tirades are nothing more than that. We take the good with the bad his fire burns db's when he's getting the ball and burns us when he's not its ok we've seen this before.

That is exactly what forcing the ball will do hey sometimes he may pass up a semi open smitty poo its ok we MUST SHOW TEAMS WE HAVE OTHER OPTIONS so we can really feed the monster.

He underthrew Smith by about a mile.

he didnt under throw to SS..dude ran a very slack slant route and the the CB was able to body him out much like a rebounder can body out a lazy guy for a rebound in b-ball...Jimmy went to throw but had to hold up a split second longer b/c of how weak Smith came out of his break..that gave the CB the time and position to make the pick...watch the film..tell me im lying
