Peppers would be a terrible OLB

we've put him in man coverage on TE's and wr's before, heck we did it a few times this season. He covered Gates a few times in the SD game and gates didn't get a catch with pep on him

Gates really wasn't a factor in that game though, so you could credit the whole defense in that aspect.

Dropping him back in coverage, and him playing the OLB position are 2 completely different things.

The main reason Gates or whoever else didn't catch a pass against him was the QB didn't even look that way, or saw Peppers and decided not to throw it.

Plenty of times when Peppers was in coverage the receiver was open, and the QB did actually throw it and it was completed for a 1st down or more.

I think he wants to go to a 3-4 and be used in a ware/ harrison type of roll. I think thats the main reason he wants out is so he can be the sack guy in the 3-4 setup.

He better be a fast learner cause playing in a small zone is one thing but for Pep to cover a guy man to man is something I cant wait to see this year. If he knows whats best he better say in a 4-3.

Playing OLB in the 3-4 does not mean you have to cover receivers. While Ware has done it before, his primary job is to rush the passer. That is the role it seems Peppers covets. Not covering wideouts, for crying out loud.

He's not going to be rushing every single time, he would have to drop into coverage more often than he does here.

Then that would just make him a 4-3 DE.

How many times do you remember seeing Kevin Greene cover receivers when he played OLB for the Panthers? He set records for sacks as an OLB and terrorized QBs. An outside LB is a lot different in a 3 4 than it is in a 4 3. Peppers would be a beast! Too bad it will be for another team!
