it is all on the coaches shoulders.

it's on the GMs shoulders as well.

we have had a glaring weakness in several areas, particularly defense, for some time. i am taking a management view of all of this.

i am of the belief that there is never just one cause to a catastrophe. there are always situations surrounding it that makes it as bad as it gets. it is the job of management to control all of those situations to the best of their ability using whatever tools are at their disposal. if the management can't control those situations then find someone who can.

he have a group of players that could have brought home the lombardi. there is not one team that the panthers couldn't beat when they are firing on all cylinders. fox has let things get out of control on several fronts, particularly the defense. give him and hurney one more chance to fix it. if they can't then they must go.

One more chance? Don't you think he's gotten enough chances? I know he'll be back and next year will determine his future in Carolina. He can at least fire trgovac this off season though.

fox is contracted through 2010. they will give him next year to see if he can improve. he got us to the playoffs this year, just couldn't deliver. getting to the playoffs was a big part of his staying for another year. if we had another mediocre season like the previous few had been then he would have been gone. it's hard to fire a coach after he gets you to the #2 seed in the NFC after 2 years of struggling to break even.

he will have one more chance.

Ironic how some folks on here say Pep wont make a good OLB, when half the time he was dropping into coverage trying to defend RB's, and TE's going into the flat. I agree that Fox/Turdo missused Peppers, so its Fox's fault for the scheme.

Pep would be a monster in New England, Baltimore, or Pittsburgh.

:iagree:

Fair enough, however.............

I would like to hear what some of the other players think.(about fox)

Maybe there is a different reason our players rarely talk to the media.............

I think this is bigger than just Peppers and Jenk, time will tell.

yea but as soon as pep doesn't have a sack in a game it's time for him to pack it up,but jake can throw ints after ints and not be questioned................look at peppers supporting cast and look at jakes.....i think pep did hella good for what he has had to work with.

Jake Delhomme is the #2 superstar of this team to our fanbase. The #1 superstar of course being Head Coach John Fox. Those 2 shouldnt be held accountable for anything, but should get all the credit when things are going good. Some of the fans turning on Pep is expected. To those people, Pep owes them something and his desire to leave Carolina makes him "money hungry" and a "malcontent" over night.

i think you were agreeing with me but it's hard to tell......

like i said it's reported they gave pep a chance to sign at some point this season, that's hard to believe though.ask yourself, who would wanna play for a team that rarely is consistent....a team that will go 11-5 to 8-8 to 7-9,i can understand where peppers is comming from....and if you were a Carolina panthers fan you should to.

Like I posted in another one of these threads...the Panthers ended up with 34 sacks, which is the same number that the Ravens had, and they have much better defensive talent than we do. You, and many others here are overreacting to one bad game, just like always.

Yea and close to half of those sacks were made by Peppers and some IDIOTS on here think we can just replace that production, meanwhile a mediorce Qb like Delhomme who was rated in the bottom half of QBs this year with all the help he has on offense is irreplaceable?

Sometimes I wonder if I'm watching the same games as half of this fanbase!

yea I have to agree now after looking at the other Big player de's in the league all of them got most of there sacks in games against the likes of Oakland and Detroit. Abrahms in atlanta had 8 of his sacks against the likes of the Oakland, Detroit and KC of the nfl. Same for Allen. All the De's disappear in games now, too many OT in the nfl are too big and fast for de's to get to the qb consistently game after game. that's why this season most of the success and sack leaders were from 3-4 teams. No matter what it's going to be hard to replace peppers unless we go out and get a big time free agent.

Oh so we keep Jake and start him..just to lose another big game.

And let the best DE in the NFL go.

If you've followed Julius Peppers athletic career, then you know how HUGE of a loss this will be to the Panther organization.

I give you the "last season" argument, he wasn't a factor, but the fact that he had a successful year this year, should prove to you what kind of an athlete Julius Peppers is.

Best Defensive End in the game? Based on what? It sure as hell is not based on his production (or lack there of in games). Peppers is a freak athletic specimin, but is not an elite player. He does not have the heart or the drive.

Abraham has played on worse defensive teams and is a 110% guy. His motor never stops and he is a beast to block. Peppers was blocked one-on-one by a series of rookie and journeyman LT's this season.

he is still livign on his rookie season and they hype surrounding him. He is a good player....jsut nowhere near worth what some people (including Peppers) thinks he is.
