If Trgovac stays and Peppers goes

Hell, the D-line actually played above most fans expectations this year and the LBer corps was about what we all expected, but it was the defensive back field that seemed to be the real weak link whether Trgo called blitzes or rushed just 4.

So my question to everybody is...why does Tim Lewis get a pass? Trgo was here before him and we didn't see all these mental mistakes in the back field, at least not that I can remember.

On one hand, I think we should expect a mistake from time to time with a rookie safety. Otherwise, as had been the last few years, there are always holes in a zone defense, which is the primary pass defense we have shown. It only takes a seasoned quarterback to know where those holes are. That is why a Warner, Brees, or even a talented Aaron Rogers could pick it apart. I have been critical of the secondary in the past, and Lucas has clearly declined...but, what do you expect when you put "cover corners" in a zone. Gamble and Lucas would both be better suited in a press coverage, I believe. There they can utilize their strengths. I never understood why any coach would not play to the strength of their personnel.

Even if you have a point about playing man to man instead of a zone (and I believe you do), it doesn't excuse all the mental mistakes, and it was never as bad as it was this year, especially in the last few weeks.

Trgo was here for the Super Bowl season, and we mainly played a cover two back then, but I don't remember seeing this many obvious mistakes. Sure, we all expected to see a few rookie mistakes from Godfrey, but it wasn't all on him by any stretch.

If Turdo is still the DC next season then Fox is the stupidest person in the NFL. Why is Fox/Hurney covering for Turdo? I think its known by the Panthers fans he sucks and around the NFL that Turdo sucks. Has Turdo ever been mentioned to be a candidate for a head coaching job anywhere, ever? That speaks volumes to me.

Now Pep...He he wants out thats fine by me. The only thing that bothers me is that he half assed it alot of the time but that was known back when he was at UNC. He always needed a head coach that would fire him up and Fox isnt that. Put a talented player like Pep who has motivational issues into a system that misuses his skills and you get what we now have. Somethings really wrong when the nicest guy in the NFL doesnt want to come back to his own team, in his home state, where he went to college, has family, and where they are trying to give him a huge contract.

I think the problem is that he won't adjust. He won't do anything different and our defense will suffer for it. His entire scheme relies on the front four and only the front four getting pressure on the QB and our front four isn't capable of that.

Next year we'll be like the Broncos were this year... We'll be able to score points (most of the time) but our defense will get rocked. Sweet!

...you'll see a fan revolt.

You'd think so but about half of the posters on here still support Fox, which I just don't understand. If Fox and Turdo stay and Pep gets traded then you will see a complete collapse next year on defense. Carolina couldnt get pressure this year, no way they get pressure without Pep. We'd be lucky to go 8-8, and Fox would be fine with that because that means you only had a "bad day" half the time. WTF?

trgocrap has to go. fox has had to micromanage his defense in a way he shouldn't. he has been taking a part in meetings with the defense the past two years which he hasn't done the rest of the time he has been here. he did this because trgo wasn't able to make the changes and stop offenses.

he almost got it back the first half of the season but then lost it. if the coaches can't get the best performances out of our roster of talented players then we need new coaches. this is fox/hurney's last chance to get the job done.

that defense needs to change.

if trgo stays and we have a piss poor defense again then fox/hurney need to go.

trgo has been a failure.

If Peppers leaves, I will be SHOCKED to win 8 games next year. I'd put the over/under at 4.5. We will not be able to stop ANYBODY.
