If Trgovac stays and Peppers goes

Put aside your hatred for our DC for a moment and try to imagine that Fox keeps him around because he knows how to run a defense.

If Peppers is gone, then he's losing a player who (on paper at least) can do all sorts of things to disrupt a defense. The prospect of bringing pressure solely from the front four has been sorely weakened. He's going to have a line that's pretty much good for stopping the run, and that's about it.

Now for the hard part. I know the possibility exists that he doesn't change the scheme at all in reaction to this. But he's tweaked things before, and he might adjust now. We know that going to a 3-4 is unlikely under Fox, so what do you think Trgovac will probably change to compensate for Peppers leaving?

I think the unhappiness of two of there previous stars should ring some change at coaching. Jenk was unhappy last year now its pep. That means its time to do something. I do think Pep going is a good move IMO though. He prob spent most of his good years here although he was not himself since 05.

Problem is that the defense is predicated on getting pressure with the front four. And in 2008 the defense was tweaked to allow Peppers to get pressure from his side of the line. With that gone it will take more than a little tweaking. I personally feel we need to get a Jenkins/Williams style DT and station him on the opposite side of Kemo. Then bring in or develop someone for the speed rusher on the outside. Then go to a man coverage scheme and use more of a Philly style of aggressive schemes where you bring overloads, stunt players and disrupt the offense. It will take a philosophy change more than player tweaking. I just don't know if Trgo or Fox are willing to change horses in the middle of the stream. Obviously Peppers is tired of waitng. So are alot of us as well.

Newsflash: The only constant in life, is change. Its not what happens to you that defines's who you are...its how you react to it.

There, I'm all cliche'd out. Nonetheless, Trgo could stand to stamp the above on his forehead, and reread as many times as it requires. Clearly, he has not exibited a propensity for change, nor does he seem to react to anything. Its the same ol, same ol. And it aint workin.

Wow, someone was actually able to do this!

Think Taylor figures strongly in their plans? I can see them going to overload blitzes, but IMHO that's going to be more of a Fox call than Trgo's. I think Trgo is like Henning in one respect--he can put in a lot of schemes but he'll call the game a lot like how Fox wants it called.

What do you think the chances are that Peppers took last year off figuring that with the QB situation they were not getting to the post season. Also he would show them what it would be like without him on the outside rush. When he finally told them he was not signing their contract and wanted to play more of a 3 4 style defense they slapped him on the IR. They used that little knee twist as an excuse. By not using a super talented athlete to his full potential he has become bored and wants to leave. He has them by the balls now, to keep him they have got to pay him $17 million and he could take next season off too! It may hurt him when he signs with another team but he will have made it up at the Panther's expense.

Hell, the D-line actually played above most fans expectations this year and the LBer corps was about what we all expected, but it was the defensive back field that seemed to be the real weak link whether Trgo called blitzes or rushed just 4.

So my question to everybody is...why does Tim Lewis get a pass? Trgo was here before him and we didn't see all these mental mistakes in the back field, at least not that I can remember.

    • Okay, so answer this one then, since you said you can't answer something you don't think will happen...... You have said numerous times in the past that even though you want them, you don't think Deion will allow us to take his son or Hunter. You then taking Ward #1 over T-Mac just because he's the QB?
    • Thanks for that sounds very interesting.   I have a scientific mind usually and don’t believe in wide spread conspiracy theories but with the NBA it’s so obvious.  The fuggin rigged draft is something only an idiot wouldn’t see.  But the NBA is 100% about big market money.  It’s not even a real league.  It’s 10 teams that have a shot.
    • This response is absolutely and utterly insane, I've literally this same thing out multiple times in previous posts about mock drafts, like a bunch of times. I've never once denied it's a possibility of them going #1, I've just said that I wouldn't take them there. And YET AGAIN, you're proving that you don't believe they are elite QB prospects, you literally just said "first prospects off the board REGARDLESS OF TALENT" It's literally what I've been saying this whole time, these QB's don't have the draft grades to deserve that pick.  They're only being mocked there because mocks are trying to predict the draft, not saying who deserves to be drafted where.   Dude, this is exactly why I question your reading comprehension skills.  You keep trying to say you got me with something, but in those exact posts you're just proving my points, the literal opposite of catching me in some lie or moment of ignorance.
