Panther's weekly player stock

This will be my first installment of what I hope to be a weekly article. I will talk about what Panther's are hot and which ones are not.

Risers

Stock is flying though the roof

Dan Connor- No Panther has risen in the ranks in the eyes of Panther Nation more than this third year linebacker. He has gotten his chance, and it is hard to even see Beason getting the spot back from him. Only James Anderson is beating him in tackles, and as much as Anderson has been beasting, I think almost all of Conner stops have come around the LOS and a lot of the time behind it. He is going to become a running backs worst nightmare.

Stock is on the rise

James Anderson- He is the team leader in tackles and he had a big pick at the time against the Giants. If he keeps playing this way, we will have a better trio than the Morgan, Witherspoon, Fields trio at linebacker. Morgan got knocked out early on in the year but that was a good set of linebackers. If Davis returns, ouch! Anderson is proving he is starting material and an improvement over Diggs.

Steve Smith- Has 100% of the team touchdowns that feature a heavy dose of running form D-Will and Stewert. Both touchdowns were clutch. Him and Rosario are the only ones coming though in the passing game.

On the rise; take a flyer

Mike Goodson-We knew he was talented last year. There just wasn't any reason to take a better talented player off the field for a guy who fumbles and makes other mistakes. I'm not so sure about giving him some of Stewert carries, but he has had some nice dump off passes late in the games. I want to see these passes work when the score is tied though. I'm still not sold on him playing smart yet. More importantly though he looks like he broke out on kickoffs. I think he almost broke three kicks. This is why he is on the rise.

Charles Godfrey- I'm going to get pasted for this but what the hell. I need CRA to see this though so this thread post count can go up. I wouldn't actually buy on Godfrey yet, but I would keep an eye on him. The reason he is on the rise is because he is now showing us that he can tackle. I was worried with his size that he just didn't have the physicality to compete at saftey. He in starting to consistently wrap guys up. He isn't just falling on people anymore with his back for cheap tackles, but instead he is starting to bring guys down hard. Coverage stills needs work but you have to start from somewhere.

Fallers

Not worried yet, but what is wrong

Deangelo Williams- For a career 5 yards a carry guy he is averaging 3.5 with no touchdowns yet. A lot of the problem could be playing calling and blocking. We still expect more from Williams because he did not have a passing game last year either. Get better Otah.

Charles Johnson- Come on man you have been good against the run, but you have to show something against the pass. I think he is an 8 sack guy, but I think he only has like one pressure to show so far.

Go ahead and sale

Matt Moore- I would have gave him 4 games. That was fast for Fox. Everyone says he pulled Peete in a half, but Peete; even though, he was the better option than Wienke, had sucked all of 2002, and that move was made more to spark the team. Jimmy Clausen coming in pretty much means that is it for Moore for the rest of the year. I think a lot of Moore problems came from playing in terrible situations. But his play beforehand allowed the situations to go to terrible so. I think the coaching staff should have sat him a week too. It is speculation, but I don't think Moore recovered from the concussion, and I think things just got worse for him.

SELL,SELL,SELL

Dwayne Jarrett- He followed up a game in which he showed some spark of life by catching two passes for 40 yards by laying another goose egg, and letting rookie David Gettis get the start over him. That isn't all coaching either, especially since it seems Fox is pulling out all the stops trying to have a good year. Good news too. If you sell now, there are still plenty of suckers...I mean buyers out there.

I dont believe he was recovered from the concussions either and Fox played him too quick regardless of what the medical guys said

I dont think Moore is a Fox type qb

I don't doubt that Moore may have played before he was entirely ready. However, what concerned me about Moore last week was that the same mistakes and problems he was having against NYG were apparent at Tampa.

I don't think his woes had anything to do with the concussion. He was awful before he had his bell rung. His problem is between the ears, it also starts with the letter C.

Confidence.
