Get Busy Living..or Get Busy Dying

Where will the Panthers be in two years?

Where are the next set of playmakers and core players come from?

Player Development is a huge concern for me....especially two players of note.

Jordan Gross has been a solid but not dominating LT. Yet we treat and pay him as such. Even if his knee and confidence gets back to what we are accustomed to I feel his time is coming sooner than later.

IMO, one key priority is to address the LT position so that if there is another major injury or just bad performance we are grooming a replacement or will replace Gross altogether with little drop off. Even though it has worked in the past, I do not mean moving Wharton over to LT which has been just fine....I like Travelle at LG.

For me, Marcus McNeil of San Diego is a better player than Gross. I would consider going after him while searching for trading options for Gross. LT's command a huge premium and a few team would part with a few high picks for him(if healthy). option B would be to move Wharton and draft or sign a dominating guard.

We are exhausting this on but Wide Receiver is a HUGE problem. I do not mean the No.2 position..I mean by the time LaFell, Gettis and Edwards are getting it..(usually year 3) Smith will be at the end of his contract and considering retirement. We need some of these guys to be a number 1 guy..or get one soon...SOON.

There are other problems...but those two are going to be huge problems...in addition to DT...I COME FROM THE FUTURE..this is the only warning.

Gross has been a dominant LT, just not this year.

He earned his contract.

I never said he never earned his contract...Imjust saying Gross has been a top 5-8 LT in the league for the most part. I m just saying we need a plan NOW to replace him in addition to WR. The rest of the team I am pretty comfortable with.

It is just we are two guys away from being decimated...

We're too busy stagnating to worry about developing anyone. The Panthers learned quickly after they went to the super bowl that teams poach successful teams. They decided it was best to be completely mediocre so that no one would ever try to take their players away from them again. Now we have a big happy family. Hooray for us.

This is all assuming everyone resigns too...just set up for potential disaster. I do believe the front office has done a B+ job over the last few years but this labor move of 2010 is just at the worst timing for our franchise.

it could be the best timing ever for it. we've got to wait and see what happens.
