If 12-4 isn't a winning team, what is? Exactly which team would meet your definition of "winning"?

7-9. Which has been Carolina's record as often as they have won.

Just sayin...

I think what people are after is some level of consistency. The only consistency this organziation has shown in the last number of years is blind loyalty, and defections of the defensive core of this team.

Oh, the post game media interviews are pretty consistent as well.

Or Smitty, or Williams, or even Delhomme who came out and said "I don't want to play here any more" then I think I would have felt betrayed and very upset.

It's not that I don't think Peppers is or can be good and even great at times, but I've just never felt like he cared enough to throw the team on his back and let the Panthers be identified as HIS team, and one worth playing hard for. Last year he disappeared completely. This season he had some great games and some where you didn't even notice him. Does anyone remember a single play he made in the biggest game of the year? The gave him single coverage the whole time too, and Gandy isn't exactly an all-pro.

Peppers thinks he will excel somewhere else. I think he lacks what it takes inside to consistently excel anywhere. He's a great physical specimen, no doubt, but that's not all it takes to be an elite player in the NFL. It also takes brains, desire, and some sort of "it" factor. Pep is lacking in at least one of those areas.

I think our defense will be better for the loss, or at least more consistent. Consistency isn't the worst thing to strive for either.

With the look on Smith's face during the Arizona massacre, it wouldn't surprise me if he said the same.
