Or Smitty, or Williams, or even Delhomme who came out and said "I don't want to play here any more" then I think I would have felt betrayed and very upset.

It's not that I don't think Peppers is or can be good and even great at times, but I've just never felt like he cared enough to throw the team on his back and let the Panthers be identified as HIS team, and one worth playing hard for. Last year he disappeared completely. This season he had some great games and some where you didn't even notice him. Does anyone remember a single play he made in the biggest game of the year? The gave him single coverage the whole time too, and Gandy isn't exactly an all-pro.

Peppers thinks he will excel somewhere else. I think he lacks what it takes inside to consistently excel anywhere. He's a great physical specimen, no doubt, but that's not all it takes to be an elite player in the NFL. It also takes brains, desire, and some sort of "it" factor. Pep is lacking in at least one of those areas.

I think our defense will be better for the loss, or at least more consistent. Consistency isn't the worst thing to strive for either.

Exactly why I dont like the message he's sending. He's earned a pretty penny only to say I can "be more" watch me do it elsewhere.

It really wouldn't surprise me at all if any of our players wanted out.

It would mean it is so miserable here, that even a large amount of money can't keep them here.

That isn't an indictment on the players, but a rather large indictment on our staff.

pretty much feel the same way. Put Smitty's heart into Pep and he's the most dangerous player to step onto the field. Some come to play football... Others come to live it.

Jeez, the thought of that... Smitty + Pep would be an all-pro every year and a first ballot HOF'er.

exactly. i'm not upset at the player who is driven away by our terrible scheme, i blame the staff who refuses to change it.

the huddle has been trumpeting for trgo's head for years. now that a player doesn't want to play for him anymore, it's the player's fault?

I wouldn't feel bad if ANY of those players did that. Hopefully it would be a wake up call to the fans, Richardson, and anyone else who matters that these guys want to play for a WINNING team. Peppers has seen the talent come in only to be under coached. I wouldn't blame anyone who wanted to go play for a team that has a WIN WIN WIN mindset instead of a DON'T LOSE mentality.

Just my .02

EXACTLY!

Let the Tin MAN GO. Just get everything we can for him.

(I do love the fact though that he is speaking out against the scheme and lack of defensive creativity- LOVE IT- LOVE IT- LOVE IT!)

tHIS Might be the final straw for Turgovac

I will defend Jake, Smith,Dwill, and Hoover to the Death cause I know all of them will go out and give it there all. Pep has all the skills in the world but his next coach will have to baby him like he has been here and let him hide from the media also. I think Pep might not know what he is getting into cause if he goes somewhere like Was, NY, CHI, or Dal he is gonna have to be in the spot light.

I agree with thesis behind the statement. But I have one thing to suggest. At least publicly, there has never been a teammate who has questioned Peppers heart and work ethic. Actually, quite the contrary. That would dispell, in part, his disappearing act. Although I do agree that he seems to disappear at times, I tend to blame the coaching more often than his lack of desire. It is the coaches job to put your players in position to make plays. I just believe that most of his plays are made in spite of the scheme, vs. due to it. That goes for Beason, Harris, and the lot of them.

I think it would have been in bad taste for another team mate to call him out. Really I think Pep was happy being here to start with. I remember him fired up for some of the early games this year but it just seemed to ware off as the season went on. We have use pep in about every way you could have in the Fox era. Last year especially but it really didnt help much. This year we switched him around in alot of games also but we didnt make him stand up as much as last year.

i will defend peppers, jake has smith, smith has moose,d will has j stew(and both them got hoov)...who does peppers have.jake delhome can throw 50 ints in one playoff game but as long as we have a winning season there's no need to stop and look at things in perspective.WOW.....clearly heart has nothing to do with peppers performance, because if j playing with his heart means going out there and causing drastic errors that could cost your team the game, then i don't want pep and heart in the same sentence.it's funny how some of you will take a bullet for a below average qb,but when there's one of the best de's in the game ass on the line it's time to throw his ass out.....give me a break.you wanna get rid of somebody look at your coaching staff or you qb.we haven't gotten pep any help since idk when, and the fact that this lackluster scheme we have is making it worst.this is just another case of the panthers releasing(or letting go) one of the wrong players, and i have a list of player we should have kept if you wanna go down that route...
