I need new gaming PC

Do your own build. There are plenty of forums out there with experts who would be happy to help you, and you could make an infinitely better rig for much cheaper.

I know nothing about building computers, but I also need a new gaming rig and I've been considering doing a build for awhile now. From what I've read on tech forums, with the right guides and tools anyone with brains should be able to do it.

I was considering it... I rebuild my Mac... but I dunno about PC. Its very expensive and I just dont wanna fug up. I was looking an Alienware but its way overpriced... I'm thinking about buying Getaway... http://www.bestbuy.com/site/Gateway+-+Desktop+/+Intel%26%23174%3B+Core%26%23153%3B+i7+Processor+/+8GB+Memory+/+1TB+Hard+Drive/9974337.p?id=1218204534081&skuId=9974337

It's really not hard to build your own rig. I did it for the first time with my current computer and it's really easy with just a little guidance. Find a checklist of parts to make sure you get everything you need and also make sure your parts are compatible with each other. Make sure your power supply can handle the requirements of the parts you get as well. The hardest part is applying the thermal compound and keeping all the power wires from becoming a tangled mess.

You won't save money or build a better rig though. That's an urban legend.

Money is debatable but the rig will defiantly be better. Also the warranties are far better for each individual part than if you buy a pre-built especially from a bigger manufacturer.

Most pre-built companies cheap out on the mobo, case, and psu too.

Build it yourself. You will save some money and you will know what is going into the pc. It may take you a little time to figure out what parts are best for you at first but after your first build it will be much easier. Also better warranty on each item. Best part is you will know what each part will be able do/handle in the pc with the timings and settings. You don't have to buy top of the line items to build one. Go middle of the road on some parts but get a good case and cpu cooling and you can overclock your cpu, memory and video card to get the speeds your are looking for.

I hate prebuilts.. crap wiring, crap mobos, crap memory.. the only real advatage per se, is the cheap OS, but that's usually so full of garbage "extras" that I'm not sure is worth the hastle of cleaning it up.

I've been building my PCs since 1993... first one lasted me 5 years, second another 9 years.. on my third build now, and I don't expect any needed changes for another 5 years from now.

In contrast, my brother's Dell has an annoying case fan issue, locks up all the time, and is slower than molasses. I tried to build one for him, but he wanted Dell.. soo....

    • For the silly people that worship her it will be that.  The Coleman 'legend' thing, they did that with another fairly average player that was here and I sort of mocked or questioned the 'legend' status. Instantly caught crap for insulting someone's favorite Panther. So okay, Kurt Coleman is a Legend.
    • You allow him to compete--you all are talking as if I am proposing making him the starter. Give him a new coach, new weapons, good OL, etc. and see what happens. You are saying, "Well Damn.  It did not work for 3 guys..."  Right now, our C is injured, we lost our top 2 WRs.  Better question:  If you need a QB, Why would you not take a chance on bringing in a QB who was a former first rounder, a good arm, intelligence, mobility, youth, etc.  and see how he does out of NY--with a better OL, better running game, better receivers.  I am not saying give him a 10-year contract, I am saying give him a chance. You act like there is no improvement on offense here--it was a 2 year process, and next year is year 2.  To me, how can you sit there with Bryce and an opportunity to sign a veteran QB on the cheap comes available and you say--"Not us. We're good.  We are waiting for Patrick Mahommes."  Jone's problem is obviously mental--and he has little support.  Why is this so frigging hard to comprehend.  It is called "bottom fishing" and it is better than sitting in the boat.
    • I think we're going to fall from behind quite early and be forced to abandon the run game.  3 rushes -2 yards 1 catch -10 yards
