This has to be one the worst things to ever catch. I didn't realize just how bad it can be until Ty caught it. He's been out of school for 3 weeks now (he did go two days, but one of those he came home early).

DSS has even called us and had me in tears. We've been told he's failed for the semester, even though he has letters from 3 dr's and is trying to do his school work here at home.

We average one -two visits a week to his primary dr. We've been once to the ER, and found out he has WPW syndrome and now has to wear a heart monitor and might have to have surgery in Nov.

Just when I think he's getting better, some new symptom crops up.

Mono took me out for a whole semester in college.

I got it a couple of years ago. Wiped me out but I still managed to work half days for about two weeks. I finally gave up and slept for 22 hours straight and that finally killed the damn thing.

I knew to expect the tiredness, but not the severe pain. I was told by his dr 3 weeks ago that he'd be back in school after two weeks. *sigh*

What really just about did me in was finding out he had Wolff-Parkinson-White syndrome.

My husband is handling the school at this point. I either get all pissed off or start crying when I have to talk to them.

A friend of mine had it in college too. She missed an entire semester as well. Nasty desease!

wow, I never realized how bad it could get.. and I just read up on WPW.. prayers are with y'all.. hopefully surgery cures it if it comes to that...

Had it back in junior year of highschool. It sure does suck. Even worse, for some people like me it never fully goes away and does its damnedest to resurface any time I get ill.

Yea mono sucks...I had it back when I was a junior in HS. I was in and out of school for awhile...prob about 3 months. But I could manage to drag myself to school for awhile and leave early most days.

I started him on vitamins tonight. I wanted to get him flintstones chewables, but he wouldn't let me. LOL

I'm glad someone else can tell me they had it and how bad it is.

Failed and DSS???? I would start talking to a lawyer. 1) His record should not reflect failure and 2) harassment.

I sure hope he is better soon.....and hope he does not end up needing surgery.

Yeah, if he's been sick and has been under a doc's care, why is the school giving you grief? DSS, really? Did the school call them... if so, I'd be pissed and have somebody's ass for that.
