Clasuen needs reps. Might as well let him start learning how to be an NFL QB now....instead of later. Hopefully post Fox they let the new coach make offseason moves to fix holes and get back into a win now mode. With rookie QBs you just have to give them time to become NFL QBs.....sure, they can win at times but that isn't the norm to be expected. This is a perfect year to let him take some lumps.

They pratctically did ....he replaced Moore in week 2.

But if things on offence are as bad as you say, it wouldnt make since to put him in purley for reps, your risk putting him in a Carr situation. If they can wait on players like Brown and Edwards, I dont see why they wouldnt want wait on Cluasen if is was just about reps.

But they didnt, they annonced Moore as the starter. There would be no reason to do that if they wanted to start Jimmy all along. And Im fairly certain they wouldve kept Moore inthere as long as he didnt have real bad games consecutivley.

I've never bought into the argument that they'd tank this season, and still don't.

They took advantage of an uncapped year to set themselves up for the long run, for certain. That doesn't mean they aren't also trying to win this season.

Marshall's been bad so far. If he gets worse, I could see looking at a guy like Mike McKenzie later in the season.

(they'd need to ensure he was healthy though, and that's a pretty big "if")

i don't believe in tanking at all. imo, tanking and re-building are in different lights.... based on effort. i believe we will use this year as an evaluation year and try to build off of young talent much like tampa did last year. i think tanking is pissing away everything, going on the cheap and racking up draft picks to start from scratch. i don't think anyone in our front office plans on shitting the bed and actually think believe that they want to put a decent product on the field. this decent product may not be as competitive as we would all like, but i don't agree with tanking.

Carolina ain't all in to win this year....never was. If the only draw back is the Carr potential....that isn't enough not to play him in a season almost solely dedicated to youth getting reps and going through the learning curves of the NFL.

They announced Moore as the starter b/c it gave a glimmer of hope to fans that what they have always appeared to be doing wasn't what was actually occuring.

again, if players that had shown Moore's potential were benched that early b/c of 7 less than great quarters with a concussion mixed in.....a lot of great QBs wouldn't have turned into what they did. Moore is a young guy.....you don't bench him in that scenario if he is being given a legit shot. Not based on his early history at the position and what his first 8 looked like. Fox, Moore, this offensive scheme......won't matter after this season.

The Carr risk is enough reason not start , if he's going to be the guy you going to rely on for years now, whats one year not playing?

Theres no significant drawbacks to not playing him. There are if you do. Escpcially with and if the offence is as bad as you say.

They have shown (espcially this season) that they don't care what the fans think they should do personnel wise. So why would they care now what they think regarding Moore?

He is no GM.I'm sure, but could be wrong, that he was the PR guy for the Redskins before we hired him.

he actually worked in the front office under bobby beathard& later went with him to san diego. hurney has worked as a scout & started with us as salary cap guru & contract negiotior

because they want win & feel clausen gives them the best chance to do so. if moore had of played SMART football example throwing the ball away, checking down to his rb's etc he still would be playing. and please remember matt is not jake so he was never going to get the chances jake did

I haven't seen Fox do anything different. I see him trotting out his same flawed approach and sticking with his old forumula despite his roster saying he needs to change things up.

Same old plays. Same problems on offense. Going for it in 4th down when that is the logical move ain't bold and different.

Its a cluster *** for sure and this train wreck of a season has been coming for a long time. I mean it just keeps getting more rediculous by the day...Hell, anymore, I get a boner if we just get a first down because those are far and few between..

Ha. On of those 2-0 bottom feeding teams beat this lowly Panthers squad to get there (Buc's). They should just come out and say he we are on a budget and are trying to find the pieces that will work together with a low budget. To say the Vet receivers that have changed teams had their best years with who drafted them is a crock. He is acting like he has a crystal ball and knows that Bolden, etc will not have big years with their new teams.

Yep.

It's not like Moore is ancient. And it's well-known thatt he team would have preferred not to have to throw Clausen into the fire too early.

So if they really didn't care about this season, why bench Moore and risk Clausen?

The "they" might change depending on who you are talking about. Richardson in my opinion is much less concerned about the now and much more about down the road. The CBA seems to be center stage and controlling his actions.

Hurney cares about the now but more about winning down the road and building a program.

Fox and his staff know that there might be no tomorrow at least here and they are building a resume for the offseason. They are most concerned about the now.

As for Clausen being put in for the "now or the future", the interesting answer is that you might put Clausen in for both reasons. The difference is that if Clausen struggles the "now" folks may want to go to Moore while the "future" folks will learn toward keeping Clausen in no matter how he plays.
