Bass Player... Is there any doubt

A scientific expedition disembarks from its plane at the final outpost of civilization in the deepest Amazon rain forest. They immediately notice the ceaseless thrumming of native drums. As they venture further into the bush, the drums never stop, day or night, for weeks.

The lead scientist asks one of the natives about this, and the native's only reply is "Drums good. Drums never stop. Very BAD if drums stop."

The drumming continues, night and day, until one night, six weeks into the trip, when the jungle is suddenly silent. Immediately the natives run screaming from their huts, covering their ears. The scientists grab one boy and demand "What is it? The drums have stopped!"

The terror-stricken youth replies "Yes! Drums stop! VERY BAD!"

The scientists ask "Why? Why? What will happen?"

Wild-eyed, the boy responds,

" . . . BASS SOLO!!!" -

One night at Club Chintz, the mindreader closes her set by reading the mind of the each of the musicians in the band.

First, she reads the mind of the lead guitarist:

"Wow, look at all the cute chicks who showed up tonight! I bet they're all here to see me. Good crowd!"

Then the drummer:

"Look at that crowd! With this many people in the house, we're going to make good money tonight!"

Then the Keyboard player:

"Yeesh, look at that crowd. None of them will ever truly appreciate all of my talent. What a bunch of losers."

Finally, the Bass player:

"E E E E E E E E A A A A A A A A E E E E E E E E..."

Q- What's the difference between a bass guitarist and God?

A- God doesn't think he's a bass guitarist.

Q- How do you get a bass player to stop playing?

A- Put a sheet of music in front of him.

Q- What do a vacuum cleaner and an bass guitar have in common?

A- Both suck when you plug them in.

Q- How many bass players does it take to change a light bulb?

A- None--they just steal somebody else's light.

Have a lot fo respect for those guys, and I'll add a few. Might get some poo over these, but I really have enjoyed their work over the years..

Geddy Lee - Rush (anyone who can sing and play Bass is awesome in my book)

Sting - The Police

John Taylor - Duran Duran (I know.. but if you listen to his lines, they're rock solid.)

Pat Badger - Extreme (Get past More than Words.. they have some kick ass music. Plus, he covers Nuno Bettencourt's rhythm guitar parts at the same time when playing live, omg.)

John Myung - Dream Theatre (could hang with Petrucci easy, which isn't a simple feat to do).

I'll add youtubes in the morning, too friggin tired at the moment.

A - A Drummer!

Q - How many Lead Singers does it take to change a lightbulb?

A - Just one.. he holds the bulb up and the world just spins around him.

Q - Why do guitar players have extremely long solos?

A - Well somebody's ego has to match the Lead Singer's!

OK I'm going to go REALLY old school here and mention Paul McCartney. He wasn't or isnt the greatest of all time, but when the Beatles first started out and the whole band broke new ground in rock music, his bass lines were like nothing else out there at the time.

I'll add: listen to old Black Sabbath and what Geezer Butler was doing in 1970.

Roundabout- awesome song.

Yes is a great band. Did you know that Almost Famous was loosely based on their first tour in America with Black Sabbath?...I think Peter Frampton was there too.

My pops was there. Said it was fn awesome.

Good thread. Nice to see some people who listen to good music, because I have seen some really shitty music on here.
