Exchanged some texts with Vincent Jackson, who expressed the following: "I just don't understand why (a trade was not completed)...

More VJ:"They obviously think i'm a valuable player by asking for such high trade compensation, but why am i only offered tender salary? ..

More VJ: "My agents and teams interested did everything to make it happen, but this organization stopped it. I just want to play football..

Final statement from Vincent Jackson: "It feels unethical and I am disappointed." Much more upcoming on NFL.com and NFL Network

The San Diego Chargers now--likely--have chosen a 3d-round 2012 compensatory pick for VJax instead of a 2d-rd pick in '11. Nonsensical.
AJ Smith won the pissing contest. But in the larger picture, it's a loss for him and his team.

guess AJ wanted to stick it to VJ really bad...now he has to sit what 6 games?

He has to sit the next game to finish out his 3 game suspension, then once he reports, he has to sit for 3 weeks. So in order to get a season accrued for free agency, he has to report by Week 7 - sit out the 3 weeks for being on exempt.

There's the chance that he could roll the dice and not report at all and take the chance that a new CBA allows unrestricted free agency after 4 or 5 seasons (probably likely). But if a new CBA went to 6, then he'd be right in the same position he is now.
