The problem is that Peppers has made his intention known that he wants out. In the rare instances where a franchised player has been snatched away by another team, they have stayed very quiet during the process. When high profile players have stated they want out, the trade value for them drops. Now usually those players have also been troublemakers like Moss and Jenkins who were not free agents meaning the new team has to inherit their contract. Those two factors are the biggest reason their value was reduced. However, I think you find that there will not be any teams offering the same thing for Peppers as Jared Allen because they have leverage now that Peppers has made his intentions known. Allen never officially said he wanted out so KC could sit back and see who wanted him the most.

Don't be surprised if we only get a late round 1st pick for Peppers and nothing else. Or perhaps even less.

look at this point, when an organization is notified that a player wants out, it becomes time to talk business. What is best for the organization, which is what Julius Peppers said. a release is not what is best for the organization, that is what is best for him. No one man is more important than the team. Franchise him and squeeze every pick, penny, and player we can get. Time to rebuild the defense.

Franchise him & work on trading. Worst case scenario is we can't trade him, keep him for another year & if he doesn't give it his all...he loses big money.

Don't forget that he also loses leverage in negotiations by going public with his desire to leave.

I've always appreciated Peppers & his contributions, but I think he is going about this all wrong. It is a slap in the face to us fans who defended him during his '07-08 season & throughout the years. I would've thought he would be more classy than this. In the long run, it works out best for the Panthers, b/c no matter how much he would cost, Fox & Hurney probably would have paid it...they have the propensity to hold onto players longer than they should (in this case it is b/c of the $)

I say we don't if the man wants to leave let him leave we can get good draft picks. I don't blame him for leaving he wants to go to a team that takes risk and actually signs big name players who we aren't known to do.

Please have a clue what you are talking about before posting.

If they don't franchise him, then he is a FA and can sign anywhere...with no compensation to the Panthers.

What contribution? Season after season Peppers has continued to underperform. He has freakish physical attributes and consistently is average in his production. Don't give me this double teamed crap....watch the tape. He is usually single teamed.

He consistently played back-up and Rookie LT's this season...and was mediocre. Get what we can and let him go.
