Trade a RB to the Patriots for a WR or I will kill Smootsdaddy

Why give up anything when they could just sign Larry Johnson?

There's some talk that the Redskins might bring him back, but it'd be no surprise to see the Pats give him a call.

He certainly fits their usual MO. Belichick loves taking guys that someone else let go and proving that he can make them better and/or restore them to former glory.

sutton for tate? so you think the patriots want their WR corps to be a beat up welker, some other white guy named edelman, taylor price, and matt slater (zero receptions in three years) after this season? the patriots are in the business of screwing other teams via trade, not vice versa. sure they could get a WR in free agency, but sutton for tate just seems laughable. i'm assuming they'd prefer the UFA they picked up and groomed (benjarvus) to the packers-->panthers UFA (sutton).

does anybody have any indication that any team in the league woud want sutton (or goodson for that matter) over their current number two?

Williams to NE for their 1st round pick they got from Oakland.

Not that I want Williams gone. He's one of my favorites and very talented but the smart move would be to get something for him because I do not see them keeping Williams, Stewart and Goodson next season. And Williams is the one going into FA. I don't want to see him leave but if he going anyways why not get a 1st rounder in exchange for him.

No! Williams is proven, Draft picks are prospects. We would need to get a proven football player for him.

You guys are under-rating Fred Taylor. The reason they felt comfortable trading away LM was because they like how Fred Taylor runs. He still averages 4.3 a carry, they just don't run often. And if they don't run often, why trade away for a running back?

It isn't like we are the only team in the league that has nice running backs and could use better pass catchers.

Taylor doesn't really play the same kind of role that Faulk did. Faulk has been the Patriots version of former Panther Nick Goings, i.e. the guy who does a lot of things well but nothing especially great (though Faulk is probably a bit "weller" than Goings was).

Regardless, they have Taylor, Sammy Morris, and BenJarvus Green-Ellis (whom they like). That's probably decent enough for a pass-oriented offense. Morris can probably fill some of the utility work that Faulk did. And again, if they do want someone else, Larry Johnson is available (for the moment).

Throw in that the Patriots tend to be cutthroat when it comes to trades. I seriously doubt they'd trade anyone higher on the depth chart than Matthew Slater for a guy like Sutton. If you're saying "who"...well, that's kind of the point.
