So...If Jimmy sucks....then what?

Awesomeness!!

Jimmy will be facing a lot of 3rd and about 6 yards. He seems to be hot and cold with his accuracy and timing with our WRs, but the good news is that he progresses through his reads. For whatever reason, Moore decided to stop doing that, and just locked onto a WR and threw. It's critical that Jimmy avoid that bad habbit, it's easier, but this is the NFL, you'll throw picks. I think the reason Moore stopped making his reads is because he was afraid of getting hit, not because he didn't have the abiltiy. And I think that's why Fox just never seemed high on him. He simply doesn't appear to be a warrior, he'd rather chuck it out there, than risk taking a big hit. Fear has a way of giving you tunnel vision, and messing up decision making. Luckily Jimmy hasn't appeared to be frightened in the limited time he's been out there, but I'll be interested to see how he responds and he get's rocked a few times. Moore turned chicken sh!t, but if Jimmy can keep his cool, I think he can do a good job of keeping drives alive in close games.

I never saw that fear of getting hit in Moore. Quite the opposite. Probably should have gotten rid of the ball sooner in some situations and avoid the unecessary hits. I did see him allowing the pressure to get to him to the point where he made bad decisions, but it was probably from the fear of not doing something and wasting a down, rather than him getting hit.

I also don't think we have seen enough of Jimmy, like for example the duration of a game, to be able to say he's hot and cold with his accuracy. He hasn't played enough to get into any kind of rythm to the point where we can honestly make that judgment.

Dude you've been pretty biased in your statements. The truth is nobody knows how good Jimmy might become and as a PANTHER fan I hope he turns out to be great. It's obvious you have a hard on for him to fail and you'll be the first screaming "i told you so" after he has a bad game. Enjoy it.

Nope, completely off-base. I'm simply playing the devil's advocate here and sticking to the OP. I'm not a "fan" of any player, rather I'm a fan of the team and want nothing more than to have a consistently successful NFL franchise. I'm far too old to get into "I told you so" child-like attitudes, but I do find it rather obvious the posters taking the most exception to anything I have to say are also those who have made Clausen part of their sigs, avatars and the like. But my supposed bias is being brought up.

I, like Mr. Scot and a few others here, simply do not believe in starting rook QBs. But the reality is there is no other option and I get that. But the entire scenario on this board has degenerated into either a pro-Moore or pro-Clausen and a very evident attitude that you must take sides. Sorry, I don't subscribe to that theory. Rather, I want to see a QB the organization is fully committed to (haven't seen that in 3 seasons), the fan base can begin to somehow regain some faith in (been a couple years there, also), and the one the players can rally around.

Look, I hope the kid plays well and the Panthers can win a few games this year. Hell, I hope someone, anyone comes along to be the QB of this team, take charge and be successful.
