Panthers do everything possible to avoid starting Dwayne Jarrett

Defender stepped right in front of Jarrett. Same defender that stepped in front of the same route to Gettis and almost picked that one. That is why the ball hit Jarrett....defender blinded Jarrett's view and luckly the defender could make the play.

The first one (the tip recovered by King) the DB jumps the route and tips it right before it hits Jarrett...

The second one, the DB knocks it out of Jarrett's hands at the same time it enters them...

Sorry, but I have yet to see Jarrett have any drops yet... especially ones that hit him in the chest/hands like I have seen even Smitty do this year...

Believe me, LaFell has done nothing to prove he is anything more than a wasted pick, and neither has AE...

Smith has done nothing compared to how he has in the past...

The common denominator is the entire passing offense is horribly drawn up and coached, or either that Jake Delhomme is not as bad as you would think...

I tend to believe the previous, because even Jake looked worse at times in this offense...

College WRs don't learn how to read defenses and routes. They just let their athletic ability get them through.

Successful WRs in NFL learn those things, or should I say try really hard to learn and give it their best. Jarrett is either lazy or he doesn't care.

After 4 years, I think it's pretty obvious my man. He said it himself, he didn't learn those things in college. For years he had Steve and Moose there available for him to teach him things if he wanted to.

If that is the case, go ahead and start hating LaFell, because he will never have reliable hands or rival Moose's blocking... and AE because he'll never be "the next Smitty-esque" returner/WR/gimmick player that we want him to be either...

As I have said, Jarrett isn't even that much older than either of those guys (well, LaFell at least)... His 4 years equates to maybe 1 full season of work...

Equate Jarrett's stats to one season of work, and you get a better picture of what he could be if he was utilized on a more consistent basis...

He has always maintained a catch rating of at least 50% (this includes horrible uncatchable passes too, mind you)... His is actually 53% and that is pretty damn good when you consider even Smitty is only at a 57% career rating...

Check out these target numbers:

In 2007, Jarrett had a whopping 12 targets... Carter had 80, Colbert had 74, and Smitty had 157...

In 2008, Jarrett had 22... Moose had 110... Smitty had 148...

In 2009, Jarrett had 31... Moose had 89... Smitty had 128...

This year, Jarrett is on pace for 16, and Smitty is at 88... That alone should tell you something is horribly wrong with our passing scheme...

Please, demonstrate to me that Jarrett has had the chance... We brought Moose back after the Carter/Colbert disaster, and have been terrified to give anyone a true shot other than Smitty...

It isn't a matter of being open... It is a matter of how much he sees the field...

Obviously he gets open, because he has had statistical success... moreso than Moose when targeted even... and look at the numbers Moose was able to put up in offenses that weren't elementary...

If Jarrett played, he'd catch anything thrown to him. He could get 200 yds a game easily. But that damn coahcing staff. They just don't want him to succede.
