Still gave up too many big plays, and Lucas is a hole in the secondary

I know it was late in the game but Wesley subs in and nearly has 2 picks in 2 plays on that side.... made me go hmmmm.

late in the game being the key words.

a pick against a desperate team trying to make desperate plays late in the game is bound to happen, no matter who is covering who.

lucas had a bad game people.

get over it.

lucas hasn't looked very good starting around the arizona game I think, he hasn't looked nearly as good as he used too, he used to be top 5 now he is below average

he needs to step it up soon or he will get picked on for the rest of the season, hopefully he can turn things around

one thing I'm worried about is godfrey blowing his assigments, it's happening alot even for a rookie

Lucas is not starting material...bottom line. He was lost, confused, sluggish, slow, and bit on too many routes. The scary part is...Marshall has been burnt a lot the past 3 weeks as well, so our next option is not that great. Is Godfrey the problem? Lucas is always yelling at him after a big play as if Godfrey was supposed to give over the top help. I was watching ESPN do a film review of a game a couple of weeks ago and it did show Godfrey biting too easily on underneath routes that Beason could take care of.

backfield will be better in upcoming weeks. the front 7 really turned it up and looked incredibly impressive. i have little doubt that we will see a big improvement in the pass D leading into the playoffs. good to see wesley pitching in and playing well. we have solid depth at DB. surprise!

i'm not very worried about lucas and marshall from last night. it will get better. game fi, will show all weaknesses and this is not the team of old who was hesitant to make changes and rock the boat. this is a team that wants to win and will do what it takes to make that happen.

Good point Fiz about us being a team to make changes when needed. That has been a big difference from years past. Fox has given up on being loyal to those he likes as opposed to those who deserve to be on the field. Lets hope it gets straitened out. Denver has one heck of a passing game!

    • Respectfully, I completely disagree. Last year we were:  32nd in Sacks. 32nd in Turnovers.  32nd in Rushing TDs allowed  29th in Scoring.  We were absolutely atrocious on defense last year and that was with a full stable of weapons in Derek Brown, Frankie Luvu and Brian Burns that played all 17 games.  Using yards per game as a metric to guage our success lacks the context that because our offense was so inept teams were not driving the length of the field, they were starting at their 40-50 yard line.  This year, our Defense ranks:  31st in Sacks. Tied for 19th in Turnovers  31st in Rushing TDs allowed 32nd in Scoring  His defense fails to get pressure, fails to turn the ball over and fails to stop the run. Three things you absolutely have to do to be successful in the NFL.  Denver meanwhile has not missed a beat without him.  If another team wants to hire him as a HC and the Panthers get two 3rds for it I'll wish him the best and pack his bags myself.
