Peppers wants out.

I have a few thoughts on all of this....

1. Does this leave us up to try and sign Haynesworth and or Suggs?

2. Lets say the trade is for a top 10 pick. I dont see them using it on a QB, but do they?

3. I know it might be to little to late to fire Trgovac, but do the Panthers bring in someone to play 3-4 and Could they land a DC like Romeo Crennel?

4. All you guys out there with Peppers jerseys and Peppers only, who are you getting this year?

never got a Pep jersey, but wanted too. I'll probably look to get a Beason or Harris now for my defensive jersey. got the O covered with Smith.

Peppers gave up when Richardson called him out to be a leader. He felt he was disrespected and did nothing last year. He came back on this year so other teams will be interested. We will franchise him and get 2 first rounders for him. He will go somewhere else and light it up next year and then back to his normal heartless performance.

The guy was single blocked the entire game against AZ and no pressures or sacks. Heartless.

This is very concerning. Peppers, a player who is humble, quiet, and hard working feels that he needs to go elsewhere to fulfill his potential. The bad news, I agree with him. If he finds a home elsewhere, I will personally be quite upset. But not at Peppers. He deserves to be where he is happy, and I wish him the best. I only hope it can be salvaged here, in Carolina. Trgo has to go. When your best defensive player, and one face of the franchise politely asks for another opportunity...the writing has to be on the wall.

Very disturbing.

Good post... we feel the same way.

what in the world are you talking about

you have never heard this? Seriously? Teams have gotten 2 first rounds for a franchise player before. The market should be ripe for one of the "best" defensive players out there. And before you say that the Jared Allen deal did not net that, it was not that far off and that was for a player with serious off the field issues. Pep will get a premium.

OMEWHERE ON I-26 BETWEEN COLUMBIA AND CHARLESTON — The agent for Carolina Panthers defensive end Julius Peppers said Saturday morning that no matter what the team decides, his client has moved on.

Agent Carl Carey said that he anticipates the Panthers will try to use the franchise tag to retain some leverage in these talks. But that would mean a $17 million payout for one year, and one year only.

“They’re in a dilemma because of the number they have to pay,” Carey said Saturday morning. “They have to decide whether to pay Julius this astronomical number for one season — realizing he will not sign a long-term deal, now or in the future.”

Carey said Peppers primary desire was to go to a place where his unique talents would be better utilized. He thanked the Panthers for moving him to right defensive end this year, from where he responded with a career-high 14.5 sacks.

But Carey said there’s a specific desire to play in a 3-4 system, where he could stand up as an outside linebacker and roam the field making plays, like a DeMarcus Ware or a Shawne Merriman.

“His preference at this point is to be in a 3-4,” Carey said. “Right now, it’s about trying it a different way.”

Carey said he met with Panthers general manager Marty Hurney in Houston Thursday night, a two-hour conversation in which he made clear his wishes.

Carey wouldn’t specify preferred destinations, saying Peppers had “a handful” of places in mind he’d like to go.
