Peppers wants out.

Trgo should not be fired because Pep wants out. He should be fired because he is not a competent DC. I have said for years that our players were undercoached. All Trgo's soft schemes do is keep our D on the field all day (and let the other team eventually score.) I thought earlier this year things might be different. But, the 2nd half of this year was a defensive disaster. The defense finished 18th in yards allowed and 12th in points allowed. If Fox wants to get avg QB's, he has got to have a shut down defense. In fact, a shut down defense would be preferable anytime. This cream puff stuff needs to change. Trgo can do it. I don't know if Fox can do it either...but I know we are stuck with him...only chance is for Trgo to go.

Now that Pep has publically criticized the team....coud have a ripple effect. We might not hear it publically. but likely the D wll be divided.....this will only get worse.

I read this story in the Observer this morning and felt like I was punched in the gut (for the 2nd Saturday in a row...)

At the end of the day the NFL is a business, and this is a ultimatley a business move for Peppers. I can understand why a guy who has spent his whole life in the Carolinas wants new scenary. Best of luck Pepp, thanks for the memories. I will continue to wear my Peppers jersey with pride, he had allot of great moments here.

Seems like the only logical thing for the Panthers to do now is tag him and trade him for as much as they can get (would be nice to get that 1st round pick back).

Here's the quote from his agent:

"This is the case of a great player who seeks to become an elite one."

That's the most absurd garbage I have ever heard. First, I think Peppers has been an elite player here at times. And he's been good, or great, enough to give offensive coordinators problems. But, after seven years in the league, you are who you are and if you think that leaving to go to another team will make you elite or give you the opportunity to become elite then you're wrong. Peppers had every chance to be an elite player here.

How is putting on a different uniform and/or getting into a different scheme going to change anything when it comes to reaching his full potential?

This shows that either Peppers is not thinking or his agent is not very bright. Probably the latter. (Peppers went to UNC so he must be intelligent.):D

I haven't read the whole thread, so sorry if this is a repost. But what if it's Jake that Peppers is worried about, and he thinks that they can't win the SuperBowl if their quarterback can't win the big one?

Yeah, because Jake sets the playcalling and schemes for the Panthers defense....no.

jesus christ i can almost hear gantt crying while writing this

It appears that 29 years in his home state was enough for Julius Peppers.

The Carolina Panthers defensive end and native son said Saturday via his agent he was ready to leave for another team.

His agent, Carl Carey, said Saturday morning in a statement to ESPN that Peppers had decided he wanted to move on from the Panthers, who chose him with the second overall pick in the 2002 draft.
