Peppers wants out.

over 8 million in the metro area. Houston is a team that is just now getting exposure because of the early years records. If the NFL had given us the sweet deal they gave Carolina and Jacksonville when they came in the league we would have won earlier and been exposed a lot more. Also it doesn't help at all when you have Dallas 4 hours north of us with 5 superbowl titles. We have a lot of Carolina boys on this squad so I'm pretty sure Peppers will fit right in. No realistically...I would be surprised if we go after him unless he calls first...so give him my cell phone # next time you talk to him..lol

I think your numbers are alittle too generous there, maybe by 1 or 2 million. I've actually lived in Houston for 3 months during the summer back in 2007. I lived downtown and worked at the BoA Tower (The Brown gothic looking building) and I have to tell you I wasn't all that impressed with the city. I actually thought the city itself was unappealing from the eyes, but it did have some nice areas. I remember when I was running with a co-worker at the Memorial Park that he mentioned Mario Williams lived at a house nearby, so I think I saw his residence but there's no telling.

Either way if you get Pep we will certainly get a few draft picks in exchange. It looks inevitable that he'll be on his way out, but oh well. Let's keep the players that actually want to play for the team.

2.5 million just in the city limits...i did say metro houston which includes, Sugar Land, Baytown, Gavleston etc. Houston is still the 4th largest city in the nation...so if Peppers likes the big stage he can have it here. Peppers may be just posturing but if he turned down the panthers 2 times already mah man wants to leave. Mario had a house in Memorial but he sold it after a year. He lives in Sugarland now. Peppers is still a young man that is probably bored with Charlotte. I lived in Charlotte and it is still kind of slow.

Also, population has very little to do with the "big stage". If you're not the main team in your own state then chances are you're not going to be a team with the big stage. The Texans have a LONG way to go before they make the "big stage". I do think Houston will make a run for the playoffs next year judging how well they finished this year.

I think I heard 5.6 Million back in 2007 - Like I said, it's about 1 or 2 million off, but it's not like that's a big deal.

The oilers had the same problems that the texans have...Dallas with those SB wins. When we start putting together back to back playoff seasons we should be ok. Like I said earlier...we didn't get the sweet deal the jags and panthers got coming in. The NFL didn't want us to have another team since we ran the oilers outta here.

Dude we actually finished up the year great..its how we started out...the first 4 games were road games with a cancellation. Not to make excuses but that storm did kind of throw things off here. Note: we can't be that bad....we are 2-0 versus the panthers. lol

We are probably the 4th most loved team in the state of texas behind, the Longhorns, Cowboys, and Aggies. The Panthers took desperate measures in last years draft to get stewart and otah. Now they don't have a first rounder and a disgruntled face of the franchise. If I'm the panthers I just tag Peppers and wait until they get a first rounder next year. The fans that want them to go after haynesworth can forget it...they can't afford him. You do know that winning puts gets you on the big stage?

Opposing teams still have to game plan around him. Having that kind of player on your team can be extremely valuable.

You can't just go by the stats. Watching what happened when Kemo was out should have brought that lesson home to everybody.

I love you, and value your opinion, Mr Scot.

But, no, no you don't. Julius Peppers does not require a game plan. The Cardinals didn't, and they killed us. They said, "Hey we're going to leave you singled up sometimes, and make you prove to us that you need 2 blockers"

Well, he didn't. Fact is, Julius Peppers just isn't the same player he once was. Good defensive end? No doubt, probably still one of the top DE's in the league. Worth 17 million? Ehhh...

Am I the only one that doesn't really care if he leaves? Since the last part of the '05 season, he's basically been a non-talking Mike Rucker. Great player, not one of the best in the league though and he doesn't play hard. If we get a first and a third for him, I'll be grinning ear to ear.

Can't wait to listen to talk radio this week. Just as Panthers stuff was dying down....

I completely agree. People keep living in the past with Peppers. This is not 2005 anymore folks. Teams other than the Lions and other crap teams don't fear Peppers at all.

He CAN be a game changer, and has been a dominant force in a few games of his career. But he's not consistent, so let him walk. It is time to rebuild the D-Line.

    • There's another connection to Carolina in Minnesota too. Our QB coach from last season, McCown, is the QB coach for the Vikings now. I find that an interesting twist of fate as well. Josh has his big QB this time.
