Peppers wants out.

i hope this doesn't come off as an obvious or stupid question, but what scheme does pep feel he'd thrive in? a 3-4?

to be honest I'm not even sure. Though I don't think he's talking about scheme in that sort. I just think he wants to be in a more aggressive defense, which isn't ours. Like say our soft zone compared to the blitzing style of Johnson with the eagles. I think thats what he means by scheme.

you would think, with a guy like pep you would just set him free every down. what i wanna know is what changed from the beginning of his career to now. when he first came into the league he was mkaing huge plays like forced fumbles, fumble returns for touchdowns, int. for touchdowns and more. he seemed to really be dominant. is there anything that could have changed or contributed to that?

When he first came into the league our line was awesome. It had peppers, jenkings, bruckner, rucker and we had a plethora of guys to sub in that had good skill sets as well. also we've went away from our man to man defense that we ran then to our zone scheme that we run now. Back then Peppers could just rush the passer every down cause we people at the other positions on the line that got pressure as well which usually lead to a play being made by pep, jenkings or rucker.

trgovac has been his Coach for the most part his whole career. in 2002 as the dline coach and 2003 to now as the DC. That being said I still blame this one partially on Trgovac for changing schemes and going to this crappy zone we call a defensive game plan. The rest of the blame goes to our line getting worse each year talent wise.

I have a few thoughts on all of this....

1. Does this leave us up to try and sign Haynesworth and or Suggs?

2. Lets say the trade is for a top 10 pick. I dont see them using it on a QB, but do they?

3. I know it might be to little to late to fire Trgovac, but do the Panthers bring in someone to play 3-4 and Could they land a DC like Romeo Crennel?

4. All you guys out there with Peppers jerseys and Peppers only, who are you getting this year?

Suggs will probably rather be in Houston because he will have plenty of help on the opposite side. I just hope the ravens tag bart scott or ray and leave suggs to test the market.

Bart Scott will be the one to leave Baltimore.

They'll tag suggs and sign Lewis to a contract quick like then send Scott on his way because they don't view him as a priority. According to reports they'll spend the rest of their money resigning a couple of their DB's and let Scott walk.

What has he done the last two seasons to warrant the highest paid DE in the league? Last year he was terrible and this year he was an above avg DE. He want's out, let his azz go. A first and 2nd round pick or 2 firsts is a great trade for us. We can draft two elite rookie DE's to replace him. Or maybe get an elite DE and CB. There is a lot of bright side to this.

Dream on because there is no way you get 2 first rounders for him. The Panthers won't even get a first and a second for him. This thread has the potential to run for a lot of days.

HAHAHAHA, over on the Falcons board, they're salivating at the chance to get Pep. Good luck with that. Some even think they can get Haynesworth AND Pep. Wow.

There must be some dilusional falcons fans in Atlanta. I really look for them to do like New Orleans next year and it will be another 10 years before they see the playoffs.

    • I get the highly drafted QB bust comparison but that's it. Lance is big, fast with a strong arm. His physical attributes got a 4th. Bryce doesn't have any of those things.  I agree that it challenges the narrative that it's all because the team's bad. If the team doesn't look that bad with Dalton then was it really the team? However, one could still say but last season was so bad it shook him. That's probably true too. Why can't both things be true?  Can't look desperate if you are hoping for a trade.  I thought Riddick hit it pretty good in this one.
