Is Jon Gruden the best fit?

Under that argument:

Who has John Fox had for his QB's? Usually game managers.

Most of our guys were possesion recivers outside Smith.

All his creativity and innovation never amounted to anything in Tampa.

But that was my point... Fox likes his offense like that. Gruden was constantly trying find another QB. He really didn't like Brad Johnson and that's who won his Super Bowl, lol. Fox likes his offenses like that, Gruden doesn't.

I don't buy the argument that his SB win doesn't mean anything because he won it with Dungy's team. Sure, Dungy may have assembled most of that roster, but there's a whole hell of a lot more to coaching and winning a super bowl than assembling a roster. As fans of a team with a ton of talent that has often seriously underachieved, we should all know that. Besides, Dungy didn't win the SB with Dungy's roster in TB and Gruden did, so the man deserves some credit.

Based on what, Chris Simms? Gruden had a lot of success with an experienced Vet in Rich Gannon in Oakland and Brad Johnson who he inherited from Dungy in Tampa bay.

Gannon was a 10 year Vet.

Johnson was a 9 year vet.

How many QB's has Gruden ever developed? Can he disect the position and tell a QB what he is doing right or wrong? Yes. I can do that to.

Can he take a young QB and teach him how to see the game from behind center, show him how to use his body and eyes to manipulate the coverage, teach him how to move his feet and how to control the pocket and stay calm in the pocket, how to throw a better pass with better mechanics?

I don't know for sure, all the "talking heads" say he can but I have never seen a John Gruden trained QB dominate the NFL. Every QB he ever had was an older vet QB that protected the ball and didn't make a lot of mistakes.

No doubt, winning a SB is a lot more than just great players, Gruden does deserve some credit for winning a SB. However, I think what you saw was that no matter how great of a "coach" he was, he couldn't develop young talent and was a mediocre strategist at best.

What in the hell is the use in hiring that coach?

I haven't read any of the first 6 pages, but I'm going to go ahead and assume this thread is about NFL Head Coaches, so, I'll place my input in here and say that if Fox does end up leaving after this season-we should steal Mike Singletary from the 49ers.

And have him bring Martz with him.

A coaching trio of Singletary, Martz, and Meeks would be awesome.

IDk, I'd rather have a Superbowl win using mediocre strategies at best and underdeveloped talent rather than great talent, awesome strategies and no Superbowl. But that's just me. Or in the case of Fox....neither.

so somehow you want to take a head coach, an offensive coordinator, and have them be subordinate to our current DC?

Yes hmmm that makes sense
