Is Jon Gruden the best fit?

Aside from the fact JR wont be paying top $ for our next head coach, is there a better fit out there for our team moving forward than Gruden? We need someone to help groom Clausen and we all know he loves his qbs...

I'm all for bringing in Gruden. If nothing else he will have 6 QBs in training camp to choose from...

thats the problem, he couldn't stick with one guy, too many qb's through his tenure. I would hope not

Gruden is good for one year to take a transitional team, coach them well and instill some discipline. After that first year though he will become an idiot and attempt to buy up every over 32 veteran that is "one of his guys". Thereby setting a franchise back by decades (i.e. Tampa Bay, Oakland).

Only if he has a puppet GM like he did in Tampa. I think Gruden would make a good HC given a good GM that can handle the personel for him.

I think Gruden is the way to go. I still think he can coach up Clausen. and I think he can improve the offense. personally, i want some offense, and a offensive head coach. pun intended.

Gruden LOVES Jimmy Clausen... in the QB clinic show on ESPN he gushed over Clausen... he'd bring a fire and passion to this team that we haven't seen in a long time.

Just because he's got a good TV personality doesn't convince me that he can coach this team. But maybe I'd give him a shot.

Things that are never a good idea if you run a professional football team:

#1- Fire your HC that is bad at making adjustments, doesn't do well coming up with an offensive game plan, chews too much bubblegum for excercise, can not win year to year consistently, and is living off an achievement from over 6 years ago. Then turn around and hire the guy that could never beat the HC you just fired and is living off an achievement that happened almost 10 years ago.
