McCoy leaves for Denver

Walsh worked with Montana all the time on his mechanics. If you're as prone to watch the NFL channel in the offseason as I am, you've probably seen Walsh's NFL special on it. Now if Montana got coached about mechanics, shouldn't EVERYone? fug McCoy. Get the fug out of town and don't ever come back.

So, you're saying you had some negative feelings about McCoy as a QB coach?

If we hire a competent QB coach, we'll find out if Jake can actually:

1. Look off a safety/not stare down receiver (lack of plural is intentional)

2. Perform a semi-believable play action fake

3. Get the ball out on time/not try to extend every play

4. Learn to exercise better judgment on when a forced throw is really necessary (to win a game with time running out, not 3rd & 12 in the first half)

I'm okay with his throwing mechanics to a point. Everyone throws the ball differently, people tend to criticize and overanalize if it looks weird to them. There are some simple basics that could be worked on, since those won't fall apart as quickly under pressure. It's like a swing change in golf, if you're going to change your delivery, muscle and mental repetitions have to be done enough for it to hold up under pressure. His injured elbow has prevented any attempt of a major delivery change being made for the past few years, even if it was considered, because of his inability to practice it.

A new coach will tell us if it's possible for Jake to change, if they don't "good ole boy" the selection of the new QB coach. For me, this is 1 down, 1 to go. On to the defensive side of the ball.

If all this happened it would be great, unfortunately we ALL know Jake is what he is, an average QB whose skills are decline not improving.

I have to say that I am excited that we could hire a new quarterback coach to help Jake improve his awareness. For my money I wish Vinny would come back. Players really benefitted from having him around. I expect Tampa would stand a better chance though.

On the other hand I don't why you want to throw McCoy under the bus. I thought he did a great job with Moore last year at the end of the season. He got him ready on 2 weeks notice, dummied down the playbook to a manageable level. He guided him the whole way. He developed Moore without a preseason or training camp to help.

Denver must see something in him to elevate him to OC and direct Jay Cutler.

Wouldn't be surprised to see McCoy turn Denver back into a running style team like the Panthers.

Could happen, but most of McCoy's background is west coast style. Coming from the Pats system McDaniels might want to take a pass heavy approach.

Biggest question for me is if the panthers go internal with Geep Chryst or look for an outside hire.
