I'm just curious what the plan is if Clausen struggles? Say he throws 10 picks in 3 games, will we stick with Jimmy just because we have no one else? Is there a chance that Moore comes back? I see us signing a vet QB any day now just for security.

If Clausen simply SUCKS, Moore comes back to finish the season. If he has the typical rookie struggles, Clausen finishes the season.

BTW you are worng about Cowher and about what Clausen needs to do. Watch what happens Sunday when the defense isn't in a prevent wanting him to throw short instead of down the field. Watch how the bengals put 8 guys in the box and blitz knowing Clausen is going to throw the dump route. Weren't you here for David Carr? Teams will play Clausen the same way unless he can throw the deep pass and make folks pay.

Did he never throw a deep pass at ND? Not once? Wow. Guy sucks! I'm glad you're basing all this off...pre-season.

He will struggle, may look pitiful. But the kid knows how to throw it downfield.

combine remarks on Jimmy

i think his mobility will help him out. hopefully otah is back this week though, and he doesn't have to be so much though. matt's problem currently. he's planted like a tree. no pocket presence.

Helped him at ND for three years with that shitty oline they had.

Where the hell are these "Clausen can't throw down the field" comments coming from...smh seemed to be able to make all of the NFL throws at ND and the pro day vids I've seen.

Yes I was here, and I'm sorry you don't like Clausen...ever since we have drafted him you and a couple of others have come up with excuss after excuss on why he should not play and why Matt was "the man" when anyone and everyone that watched this offense in preseason knew this would happen. Hell if you would have faced the facts at the end of last year he played TB, then the worst D in the league! He wasn't that great THEN! Fact of the matter is, you will be here when he does make a mistake calling for his head because you were WAY off base on this one and you can't stand it! How about you support the kid as a Panther player instead at looking at all the negatives people tell you he has? If you lived with Jake and you lived with Matt what is your big issue with Jimmy? Does he not throw enough INT's for you? I just don't understand the hate some of you people have!

Anyway, I wish he and Matt the best of luck but I agree with this decision, Clausen gives us the best chance to win RIGHT NOW!

You Clausen haters can talk about 5 yards per pass attempt but answer me this! Does he move the ball up and down the field on a more consistant bases than did Matt? Be honest with yourself!

David Carr averaged 4.7 yards a pass for us and completed 54% with a 58 rating. Problem isn't moving the ball but scoring points. How many touchdowns did Jimmy lead us to yet? Going between the 20s fattens your stat sheet but doesn't win anything.

And no one hates Clausen. Most of us are just a lot more realistic about his chances to light things up those those who are hanging like you by his jock.

This is so uncharacteristic of Foxy. Certainly leads creedence to the rumor that he doesn't care much for Moore.

Either that, or he really believes that Clausen give us a better chance to win. I don't know why people would think that's so far fetched. Fox has been watching them both in practice everyday, so he knows better than any of us.

Oh really? So let me guess all you "realistic" people sniffin Matt arse were the only ones right huh? Yea we should listen to you more often as you have said!

And he doesn't have to Light it up, where do you even get this stuff? He has to do what he has done...move the ball PERIOD! It really doesn't matter how he moves it!

i saw this in the gantt article about it.

"There were some plays out there that we left, no doubt," Fox said of Sunday's game. "We've got to be able to make those in game situations. Talking to the team today, we've got to spark our offense, in particular the passing game. So we're going to start Jimmy Clausen this week and see how that renders. We'll let Matt sit back and watch."

i take from that fox spoke to the players and they are in favor of the change. probably reading between the lines something that isn't there, though.
