Because change the name from Clausen to Newton and you have the same thing.

Not at all. Moore was clearly better than his backup (Clausen) last year. That was evident from the very start of camp when they started practicing. Reports were Clausen wasn't even in the conversation w/ Moore in camp.

All reports show that just 4 days in......Cam is just as good if not better than a 2nd year player who has started 10 NFL games.

Wrong; Moore wasn't close to Clausen last year thus the reason Moore was benched for Clausen.

As for your reports showing that Cam is just as good if not better than a 2nd year player who started 10 NFL games. As someone who has been to the practices and watched them from start to finish this statement is wrong as well. Cam has shown flashes of greatness but overall Jimmy has played better and at this point he is the clear starter for the season. The only thing you hear about that is true is the fact that the fans are idiots and boo jimmy while cheering everything Cam does...including his many tosses in the dirt on roll outs to the right and his constant overthrows of open receivers..In other words we are doomed!

Incorrect. Everyone who followed the camp last season and spilling over to the regular season....that Clausen was nowhere near as good as Moore.

The benching of Moore wasn't just about who was the better QB. Also, if you recall after the move was made Fox fairly quickly ended that experiement bringing Moore back as the starter....

It was also evident in games like SF for example.....Moore was the better QB - confirming what everyone said in camp, practices, etc. That ain't a endorsement of Moore being anything.....other than clearly a better QB from camp until he went to IR.

I mean do you realize what you just said.....you said Moore wasn't even being close to as good as Clausen in 2010. That might be the craziest post I have read here in a long time.

as far as this camp goes, Jimmy is playing it safe and not making the throws the offense requires. That means a nice completion percentage in practice......not a sign of good play for this offense.

I hated Clausen, and I thought it was a stupid pick in the draft. But after we saw that none of our QBs were good, I wanted to stick with Causen.

The QB jumping we did, putting a new guy in there every game, was ridiculous. At least give Clausen a chance to get used to it.

Clausen started over 60% of our games and played in others.......he had a chance to get use to it.

Fox ended the season during week 2.....which was ridicuous.

He put the best man in to give him a chance to win, like or not! Just think, we let Moore walk to bring in DA?! What does that really tell you about the skills Moore really has? Fox benched him, Ron let him walk...two coaches and neither wanted him on the field. Just saying :P

For whatever reason it happened... Moore is finished... I can't disagree with the decision to change starters.

But I'm very concerned that Clausen is going to wind up in the same position. Playing behind an O-Line that isn't blocking well is a dangerous thing for any QB.

If we start this kid and he gets destroyed with poor ass protection, we'll not only have ended Moore's shot at a starter role, but potentially shell-shocked what could be a franchise QB. This is very risky.

I guess you can call me Edgar Cayce? :p

No he didn't. Fox made a desperate move in week 2.....and then confirmed after watching Jimmy 2 games that Moore was the best they had.

There is no Moore/DA comparison. It is about Cam.....DA wasn't brought in b/c he is better or worse than Moore.....he was brought in b/c he can sit in a meeting w/ the QBs and knows the offense.

Read comments about JC and watch the playcalling. The coaches were being rebellious. Clausen was not prepared, he was put in position to suck as Fox's parting shot at JR. Yes he sucked, but never before has a rookie starting qb been used like that. If people all want to focus on Clausen and blame him for everything, then they are just wrong. No rookie QB in the history of the league would have succeeded here in 2010. Does that mean JC is a solid NFL QB. No. It means nobody knows how good he can be, not Rivera, not Clausen, and especially not any of us. His skill set is not suited for this offense, so I see him moving on. Will he succeed elsewhere? Possibly. Until then, he is our backup and people need to support him.

Booing him at training camp is one of the most idiotic things I have ever heard. I suppose the cheap price of gas in SC and the deterioration of our public school system has contributed to the moron population being well represented in Spartanburg.
