Pat Y nails it on head about Moore

he won't have to, Moore is the back up from now on(just like peete getting pulled in 03)

Clausen is only the starter if he can win games like Jake did in 2003. Everyone who thinks Clausen will stay the starter might be very disappointed if he struggles and gets pulled in a few weeks. Fox is gone as it is so he doesn't have loyalty either way.

i don't think anyone is making him out to be except in the eyes of those few still on moore's bandwagon who haven't yet had their eyes opened about him.

QB play has been bad. decision making has been bad. sure he hasn't been given much to work with but we aren't going to get a whole new team. we have an at least just as capable QB sitting there who will be QB'ing this team in the future anyway, why not let him get in there and get his feet wet with who will be his team of the future?

i just see very little reason at this point to warrant keeping moore in there. i see no benefit to it all all in the long term or short term.

if there is one, please share.

only reason I got is we don't want Jimmy to be a David Carr. Schuab, Rodgers, etc. Look at some of the more recent young QBs that are playing well.....they didn't get thrown to the lions early.

I am fine with Jimmy starting really....this season ain't about making a Superbowl run....never was. Carolina needs to go out today and get a vet WR though. Putting Jimmy out there with rookies starting at WR just ain't smart. Plus, I was hoping Jimmy would get his first starts under a more legit offensive coach....Jimmy has always been the future....not sure we want Fox fuging Jimmy up. Then we have David Carr on our hands. Again.

Not worried about the 'dink and dunk' passes.

Tom Brady won a couple championships with that style of passing.(before Welker and Moss)

Many people have been WANTING us to use more screens and check downs, myself included.

Steve Smith.

DeAngelo Williams.

Jonathan Stewart.

Mike Goodson.

Gee, short passes don't seem like too bad an idea to me.

we need a new offensive scheme and playbook to do that.....not gonna happen. Fox's offense is built on play action and going downfield. Fox ain't changing.

There are short-intermediate routes on almost every pass play, and there is usually a 'hot' route.

WTF are you talking about.

We just need a QB willing to throw to the (usually) open secondary options.(aka read the field)

Most of the problems yesterday were WR's not getting open. This causes the QB to hold the ball too long, the Oline breaks down, and the QB is scrambling for his life.

Claussen may provide a spark, but the QB is not the problem, and Claussen is not the solution. It does make sense to start Claussen now because the season is lost and you may as well get the kid some reps. Why not?

every offense has multiple options built into every pass play, the difference between ours and others is we prefer to go vertical in the passing game but we have plenty of checkdown options(the major problem with this is you run a slow methodical offense that can be easier to defend cause most d's will try to keep everything in front of them)

fox will have a job somewhere next year(maybe not as headcoach)so he's not worried about that, he is trying to shake up the offense and see how clausen reacts to starting, if we catch fire great, if not who cares cause he gone either way

but for those examples we also have peyton, eli (qho started the last 7 games of his rookie season), big ben, ryan, flacco, sanchez, stafford, and even freeman (as much as i hate to admit it about him and sanchez).

now on those last couple it might be a bit early to tell long term but so far they look like they are doing alright. also remember we just got soundly beat by a player who started his rookie year (which was just last year) as well. point is it can go either way. despite how this team has performed thus far, i do believe that they are capable of doing much better than the turds they have left on the field the past few weeks. they aren't too far off from being the team they were last year. coaching staff hasn't changed.

clausen might just be the shot in the arm that helps get things back on track. the embarrassing loss to the bucs might be the thing that gets them to turn things around.

i'm just not worried about him. i was more worried about moore. it could have gotten a lot worse out there than it got. moore just doesn't have it as a comeback kid, imo. clausen just looks to be a kid that has a huge amount of confidence in himself, the tools to back it up, and a short memory (something that i think neither moore or jake has/had). that will go a long way.

i have no illusions of clausen coming out next week and turning into drew brees or anything. they'll start off slow and limit his role as a passer to just safe plays. all he has to do is not make mistakes and get the occasional play off that gets the defenders back out of the box. i'm pretty sure he can do that. he also has to be able to get the team fired up as well. i see him being able to do that better than moore, quite frankly. the california cool thing isn't the most aggressive and competitive demeanor to have.

the line knows that there is a lot riding on them being able to turn things around and i have faith in them and magazu. they looked pretty horrific to start the season last year as well. they can turn things around.

    • I like that a lot; Ware from Troy and also Khalil Mack who played at University of Buffalo
    • I remember the Huddle consensus over the course of last season and the previous one. Lots of Bryce is a bust, we should've drafted a 4th slot WR, should've kept Wilks, should've kept an armless Cam, etc etc. So... yea... already thought about that. I wouldn't trust the Huddle to detail my car, let alone run a multi-billion dollar professional sports team. 😛
    • bold prediction, I think Mike Green will be the best pass rusher in this class, and thats even with abdul carter.  He reminds me of demarcus ware, not just in size and prowess, but even coming from a Sunbelt school (Ware from Troy, Green from Marshall).  I think he is passionate about the sport where I think Carter as the physical freak might not have the heart.  Thats the guy Im sold on and am gonna hammer the table for, I know he's not projected 8, but he is projected like 12-13, so if a slide back can happen and we still get the guy I want, I'm 100% on board. All that said, it takes 2 to tango, I think the Cowboys are the tango-er.  IMO theres a VERY good shot that Jeanty is available at 8.  Why does that matter?  Not only do the cowboys NEED a runningback (dak sucks without a run game), but MORE importantly, gee where did Jeanty play in high school.....Frisco TX, literally Dallas Metro.  Soo, RB is a position of need and the best RB and most blue chip draft selection that  could improve the offense immensly played IN dallas metro AND will be in range for them to move up and pick?  Do ya think Jerry Jones is gonna just say no to the Jersey Sales?  Jerry might have sexually assaulted a woman and attempted to prevent black people from going to school, but he's no idiot (he is).  IMO, we get a good enough package, prlly their first and third,  maybe a conditional later and we move to 12.  We get Green, they get Jeanty, everbuddy happy.
