Mike Goodson

I think this guy really needs the ball in his hands. He has been explosive nearly every chance he gets to have the football. I really think this guy has a chance to be one of the best offensive players on our team. I wonder if theres any way we could get him playing as a slot receiver? If we could have somebody that could get him the ball, just seems to me that he could help our WR corps if that were possible.

Or even if he could just get some more touches as an RB, I just feel like we need to get the ball into his hands more often and see if he really can step up and help this offense.

As much as I love Goodson and what he brings, the dude looks really soft. Way too soft to be a 15-20 touch per game type of player. Keep him where he's at during kick returns and using him for the occasional carry or catch out of the screens, but don't expect him to get a lot of touches and we'll be fine.

Almost every time he really gets a solid tackle on him, he looks like he's going to stay down. I worry he couldn't handle the kind of hits our other backs take.

Goodson really does seem like he is getting it. I fear that the FO may let DWill go if he continues to do so well.

I could be wrong, but judging from the play by play and a few of the highlights I was able to watch, it seems to me Goodson “looked good” when he caught the ball out of the backfield in the shotgun formation. Sure he had the nice 9 yard run, but both DWill and JStew had big runs as well. And their runs seemed to have come when Tampa was expecting the run.

Goodson was stopped from the 4 yard line on consecutive runs late. Then they bring in JStew on 4th and goal at the 1 when everyone in the world knew what they were going to do.

The offense is simply way too predictable. Running the ball a ton isn’t the problem. It’s the way the plays are distributed that seems to be the issue. When you run the ball on 1st and 2nd down and then shotgun on 3rd seemingly every drive, you’re going to have problems especially when Moore is your starting QB.

Shotgun on 1st with screens to Dwill and JStew, try some 2 back sets with those guys, make it more unpredictable and help your QB out. The Panthers have one of the best offensive lines and two of the best backs in the league. Use them!!
