Tom Talks: Panthers hustling 'til the end

(By Tom Sorensen, [email protected]) span class=icon icon-bullet/spanIt wasn't all bad Sunday. Tampa Bay kicker Connor Barth, formerly of North Carolina, faked a field goal and punted. The ball looked as if it would stop inside the Carolina 10, perhaps the 5, and from there Jimmy Clausen would begin his first drive. Long snapper Andrew Economos was charging down field to down the ball. Before he could, Carolina linebacker Jon Beason nailed him with a shoulder that sent him flying. The ball bounced into the end zone and Clausen began the drive at the 20. Smart play, and great hustle.p/span class=icon icon-bullet/spanAfter the game, Clausen wore an outfit that was a testament to gold and blue, including a gold and blue tie, a gold jacket, in his shirt pocket a blue silk handerchief and on his wrist a gold watch that matched his clothes. That -- the watch -- is the next level right there. Matt Moore wore a golf shirt, blue jeans and flip flops. What's it mean? Not a thing. The people who tell you that clothes make the man are lying. Also, they use cliches.
