Herm Edwards Our Next DC??? Thoughts???

i love herm he's a motivator beyond motivators,the way he got the chiefs to play the last of the stretch of the season shows it all.....plus he is a very good cb coach.

Edwards is a strong defensive mind and he'd have Fox's trust, allowing Fox to concentrate on the big picture rather than having to fiddle with the defense.

In a related note, I think if KC coach Herm Edwards ever needs a soft place to land, his old pal "Crash" will help him out. He and John Fox played together in college. Edwards was the talented one.

I dont know about this guys. Not sure what Herm did before he was a HC. He has not had a great career as a HC, not sure he would be an upgrade as DC.

To be fair, he coached the Jets, and took over Kansas City with an injured Larry Johnson, no quarterback (Green is 87 years old and injured), a depleted o-line, etc. You have to say...the Chiefs have had phenomenal drafts the last couple of years. Given a couple more years, I believe Herm would have himself a playoff team. As it is, someone else may get the credit for the team he is building.

Think Parcells building the Dallas team and leaving, only Phillips has blown it up!

Bottom line, I think Edwards is a better coach than his surroundings would suggest. Dont forget, that Mangini had some success with the Jets immediately after Edwards left. Was it because Mangini was that good, or Edwards had finally built his team, and Mangini got the cred a year later. Note to self...three years later, Mangini gets fired.
