So... the Bears

... just beat Big D in Big D. The passing game for da Bears looked good again. The running game looked very bad, granted it was against a 3-4, which is a different look for us (and we have GB coming up for MNF). The Cowboys hurt us early on with their blitzes and I was afraid that was going to get worse after Chris Williams went out, but it seems the Cowboys D got a little bit scared after we hurt them a couple of times on their blitzes. I was very happy with our Defensive play overall. We had a few plays that I wish we had played differently, but all in all, I was satisfied. Add to that, Detroit looks like a better team than most wanted to give them credit for and we're 2-0, tied for 1st in our division. Next game will decide who is top dog in the NFC North (for now).

A careful observer would note the 2 step drops and Cutler's backpedal with both shoulders facing the makeshift O-line, as well as the max protect with 2 RBs to chip anybody edgerushing like a bat outta hell.

Credit Martz and Cutler for doing something the Bears have never been able to do in years past...play the chess game of adjust on the fly.

Also credit the D for staying stout.

Notice how the Cowboys went from contender to pretender with this loss at home.

The more nuanced NFL observer might say that the Loins and Cowpokes are 2 teams with a long history of shooting themselves in the foot and playing with little discipline.

I look forward to the Monday night tilt with the Superbowl favorite Packers to get a really good early gauge on who this Bear team is. Detractors are unlikely to give the Bears credit for either win. I don't think they are as good as they were against Dallas, nor do I think they are as bad as they were against Detroit.

2-0 is wonderful and a bit surprising.

3-0 is getting ahead of ourselves, but might change my mind and silence some critics.
