If Carter falls past 3 or 4 do you pick up the phone?

Let me respond from a different view…  What player that will likely be available at 8 do you consider to be a sure fire pick?  From all the mocks I’ve seen, I’m not really sure anyone likely to be there is worth pick 8, hence, why I’m in favor of trading down for an extra pick(s).  It looks like picks 8 to 20 are interchangeable.  This draft looks very light at the top, in terms of imme I just don't see Walker as that great of an edge rusher or that great of an off-ball linebacker He's a talentdiate starters, future all pro players.  BPA at 8 just doesn’t look very strong compared to prior drafts.  YMMV.

If Mason Graham is there he is my pic. I also would love to grab Tyler Warren at that spot with possible consideration from Loveland.

There are some tackles who will be there around 8 and a ton of good teams (back of the draft) who want one.  We will be in the middle of that.  I doubt we pick at 8.

The first four picks are (in some arrangement of the four) are pretty much set:

Tennessee:  Ward QB

Cleveland:  I am guessing Carter because they need a rookie contract to offset Garrett's deal)

NY Giants:  Hunter WR/CB

New England Patriots:  This is where it gets interesting:  Armand Membou LT

Jacksonville Jags: Mason Graham, DT

Vegas Raiders:  Ashton Jeanty, RB.  Geno Smith could use an understudy, but they might not want a QB this year.  Tough call--Sanders or Jeanty, but Jeanty has teams salivating--Brock Bowers and Jeanty take a lot of pressure off the QB.  This could be Sanders, but a QB controversy for Pete is not ideal.

NY Jets:  Will Campbell (RT).  Do not rule out Will Johnson, CB to play across from Sauce.

That leaves a QB (Sanders), Banks (LT), Warren (TE), and any WR in the draft.  I see Pittsburgh wanting to trade up for Sanders, or a team like Texas or KC moving up for a sure fire starting LT (Banks).  So if the Panthers want a haul of picks to trade from #8 to the back of the round, I think this is a great draft to move that far back....I see a drop off around 10-12 and then it is pretty level between 12 and 50.

they met with that LT from Minnesota Ersery--not sure about anyone else.  i read a bit about him--said he projects to RT in the pros.  Not sure why they think that.

I never understand why teams want to switch a players position in the pros. They drafted based on their success at one position and say, hey let's play him somewhere else and see how he does. Membou is one hell of a RT and scouts want to make him an IOL. Rhule was another believer in that projection philosophy. I say if he's kicking ass at a high level in college a T play him at T.

I think there is only one true dominant edge in this draft. The one that would transform the pass rush. He's the sure fire 10 plus sacks a game guy. My question is what is it worth? At which point do to throw caution to the wind and pick up the phone?

I think it's worth exploring because to be honest we are not sure what we are getting in Walker who is the most likely rusher available. I think he's a fantastic player but that's split between edge and off ball. Williams isn't worth a top 10 pick period so we have a delima. Either go with another position of need or move up. When do you get desperate?

For 10 plus sacks a game he's worth our next four drafts.
