Blackmon is 26, Moehrig is 25.

If the Panthers sign Blackmon, they will have two complementary Safeties.

Moehrig is a true hybrid that can play back & near the box.

Carolina's defensive roster was one of the worst last year, & this would be a major upgrade in an area of need.

Both also played in Cover 3 dominant systems, which aligns with Evero's philosophy.

Williams is a run stoper and can't cover a dead body. Blackmon was rated as the 30th safety last year but also had lingering injuries.

This D is starting to feel like the inverse of the 2019 D.

I loved Williams coming out of school back in the day but his career shifted when he blew the Diggs game winning TD angle at the huge Saints/Vikes playoff game.

Played well for BAL but with Moehrig, Blackmon makes a lot of sense. Better complimentary piece. He’s pretty good too.

If we sign one of these two, we have a pair of starters at safety and won't be forced into drafting a S early in the draft to fill an immediate need.

This Blackmon would be a good signing because in free agency, you look for players at their floors and hope that coaching, a new system, and a new opportunity will pay off.  However, on day 1, you are signing players at their ceilings and hoping they continue that level of play.

Blackmon can be average,and there is nothing wrong with average if you have elite players at other positions. if you ask me, if he can stay healthy.  He has an injury history, and that has contributed to his inconsistent and subpar play--if healthy, expect improvement.  He should arrive healthy.  Low risk, high reward.
