Walker freaks me out. I’ve seen too many people who don’t love his play at linebacker, and that’s where he’s going to play most of his snaps. If we’re picking a linebacker higher than we picked Luke, I’d like his linebacker instincts to be flawless.

Why not just pick Barron? Even if he’s overmatched at outside corner, he’s a perfect nickel prospect. Perfect. Ditto at safety. Why are we trying to do this linebacker/edge half-measure when we can get a great prospect at another position of need?

Jahdae Barron at 8???

My brother in Christ, what in the actual fug are you talking about?

If everyone’s a reach then no one’s a reach.  It’s all relative to this group of players.

If most teams really think the blue chips are just Carter & Hunter, then many teams may not have that big of a gap between their #5 and 25.  This draft is going to be mad unpredictable due to the quantity per tiers being so unique.

There will be many more of the picks happen than usual where a common 2nd-3rd rounder goes way higher than expected, and some of the commonly mentioned 1sts go way lower.

It's going to be way more "eye of the beholder" than the average draft, for sure.

Should make for some interesting watching.

Yeah, that should 1000% be a trade down if that is the thought process(and it isn't) with the organization.

I mean if you're looking at the best combination of intangibles, playmaking, & consistency on defense, Barron is probably 2nd in this draft after Carter.

He's the best playmaker in the secondary and is unbelievably sound (technically).  Plays outside, big nickel and FS.  Fits the 2HS /Cover 3 stuff and our nickel subs really well.  Just saying.

Agree to disagree if you don't see him high, but he's become my DB1.  And honestly, after Hunter, Carter, Graham, & Walker, I kind of like him the most for us on defense (along with Kenneth Grant).  Just can't get on board with the higher edges and Johnson's man skills worry me at the NFL level.

I agree.  It’s just if most teams don’t feel that differently about 8 than they do 18, there’s not going to be much of a market for moving down.  We just need to pick the best player at 8.

When I watch Walker, I see a guy flying all over the field making a significant impact. That's what I want out of a top 10 pick.

He will not be a "1 trick pony" like Burns was, and if you consider that he can play edge in some situations, LB in others (blitzing, shadowing, etc) he can beat you in many ways.  Hard to game plan against.

I used to teach at Salisbury years before he was there--vaguely knew his dad--but my friend who is still there can't say enough good things about him.  High character guy--we could do worse.

I think his versatility makes it difficult to rank him.  Depends on the system and the DC.  However, if he crashes as an edge, we still have a LB.  If we were to draft Stewart and he crashes as an edge, we have a bust.
