I am not sure he even has a source with the Panthers. It could be he is reporting what other teams scouts/FO expects us to do and that we are just typically very transparent/predictable.

Parsons is a couple inches taller but his arms are actually shorter than Walker's.

 

Walker:

It's not always just raw measurements but "frame" too. Some guys can easily bulk out and grow into theirs and some of them are a lot closer to what they were on draft day.

Not sure this draft is a good example of this since there may prove to be no EDGE/DE that is truly elite. Tank for Carter? Woof. No thanks.

He didn't measure as an EDGE so they tried to make him an off the ball LB and he was just okay until they finally just said, ya know what... why don't we just let this guy get after the QB? Then he started playing like a guy who would've been drafted #13 overall.

 

Sure, but there have been a lot more cases of these tweener guys not working out than there have been Hasson Reddicks.

Yeah, and there have been a lot of cases where guys who check every measurable box not working out too. There's no science or foolproof methods to this draft stuff. The consistently good teams figure it out and draft more good players than busts. We suck in large part because we've been drafting terribly for years and we've been drafting terribly ever since we got obsessed with RAS.

I've noticed this too, but even last year with Sanders and Brooks. 

And I think there's a method to the madness. Was listening to a podcast talking about the lack of LT's, and how the college game doesn't coach the position, not NFL offenses, etc. which is hampering development.

So...I would like to imagine we're going after the colleges that might be preparing players with the most NFL style offense (and Sark's NFL experience)...and making a smart call. Time will tell and good players are good players, but I at least think there's something to drafting guys in the NIL transfer day and age, who at least get some semblance of an NFL system in college.

I just hope they know how to use him properly. If they try to make him an off-ball linebacker that blitzes sometimes it'll be a waste, IMO. He needs to play EDGE, not linebacker.

Agreed. Kinda how dallas used parsons at first then made him full time DE.

He doesn't have any connection to our staff.  They do have connections with scouts and agents.  But the agents can try to manipulate what the info is.  Walter has been widely known as a football website, but the scout connections lend their draft info some good stuff.  They change like everyone else does as draft day comes and more info gets leaked.

Walker freaks me out. I’ve seen too many people who don’t love his play at linebacker, and that’s where he’s going to play most of his snaps. If we’re picking a linebacker higher than we picked Luke, I’d like his linebacker instincts to be flawless.
 

Why not just pick Barron? Even if he’s overmatched at outside corner, he’s a perfect nickel prospect. Perfect. Ditto at safety. Why are we trying to do this linebacker/edge half-measure when we can get a great prospect at another position of need?

Is doesn't matter if you're drafting on measurables, college production or potential, especially in the top half of the first round.  Teams with all the resources in the world hit on a top 10 picks roughly about 40% of the time.

This doesn't mean teams can't get some advantage.  Teams are slightly better than random chance at selecting the right player that will be average or better in the NFL.

I really like Walker but I've put some time in researching Mykel Williams and there is a lot to like. 

Physical traits are off the chart.
He's 20 and already very good.
He has a low snap count because Georgia is deep so they rotate a lot of elite talent.  This also bears out historically as many Georgia players have better NFL stats.
He gets consistent pressure relative to his snap count.
Really good against the run.
Perfect fit for Evero and our defensive system.
Canales and thus the Panthers are a developmental type coaching staff. 
Lines up every everywhere from 4i to edge.  (4i is inside the tackles inside shoulder and shows big time hybrid DT skills, again is perfect for Evero)
In the SEC title game against Texas he had 2 sacks and 5 qb pressure.

I'd love him here as a Panther.
