Yes, Clausen should start the rest of the season...

I agree completely. All summer, I sang Matt Moore's praises. I did not think that this disaster would occur, but Tommy Jone is haunting us.

Today, in Clausen's brief period the offense looked a little more effective. I'm all for letting the kid learn on the run, I mean poo he's had a QB coach since he was 11 right?

What will Foxy do?

Like Zod stated we're rebuilding put our young QB in there and give him in game experience. We are in a division where everyone has a damn good QB and an elite one in Breesus hope we have found ours in Clawesome. Can't wait til next week to say the least.

Clausen just gave the offense a spark like Vick did when he stepped in for Philly. Just wish he could've started maybe we wouldn't be 0-2 :(

I was pulling for Moore to get his start at week 4 last year. Like another poster wrote though, Jake earned those extra opportunities. Matt came in and seemed to be doomed the moment he got here. Fox wouldn't put him in and it seemed like he simply did not care.

At the same time though, I get the impression that he's never really been the guy Fox wanted. I read an old NY Times article the other day talking about how Fox was part of the fad of HCs that think you don't need a QB to win the Super Bowl, just a good running game and stellar defense. That was the year we drafted Peppers. You can't run to set up the pass and vice versa in this league anymore. You have to be able to do both.

Clausen is the franchise QB of the future. He looked better in preseason and wants to win. The team can feel it. Moore kind of wants to go through the motions it seems. No pre-snap reads, no scanning he field, either he has been exposed or the coaches won't let him spread his wings. The biggest difference I see is that he isn't willing to sling the ball around the same way he was last season. Jake looked the same as Moore. Zeroing in on WR and not trusting others. I think he's too concerned with NOT making mistakes instead of making plays.

I don't want to throw the rookie to the wolves yet, but we drafted Pike or a reason also. In case Jimmy ended up being another bust, we have another waiting in line.

I see a lot of upside to the team. That gaping hole at RG has me worried, but if Schwarz gets moved over when Otah comes back that could provide the team a cushion. The pass rush isn't getting there either, but Hardy is showing that he can play in this league. Gettis and LaFell I think will develop nicely, and I'm not completely sour on Armanti yet.

Oh well. A long season is ahead. I think I might just start watching for growth as opposed to W's to keep sane

EDIT: I hope Clausen gives the coaching staff the idea to start changing their philosophy. Put him out there with trips and let him hit the dink and dunk passes while handing the ball off. Not every pass play has to be a playaction deep ball. Regardless of who is back there, get that fool sometime to throw.

i liked what we saw from jimmy on his first drive yesterday. its a shame we couldn't pound it in from the one. Hurry back Jeff!

Jimmy also always looks confident. A real go get em attitude in his eyes. I'll call it the eye of the panther.

Matt appears shaken, nervous and just all around like he wants to be sitting.

I agree with that. Matt is a better QB when he has time than what we have seen this year. Jimmy is used to playing under pressure from college. The fact is our O-line is sucking worst than Matt, but out of both of them, Jimmy can do something with a suck O-line while Matt can't. I just hope he doesn't get killed out there.

Our O-line let Matt get flattened again yesterday. For sure I thought that hit would have been concussion #2. I would hate to have our possible franchise QB endure that during his first few games in the NFL.

Yes rookie QB's can do good in their first years, but those that do get started usually at least have some great protection up front. If Jimmy starts next week, he needs to be able to protect himself if the O-line fails to do so.

Throw that ball, or throw it away quick.

Wow, please dont tell me that Jimmy Clausen is an adult professional athlete that needs his hand held.

Football is a man's game and Jimmy dealt with shitty pass protection his entire career in college. Dont be soft, put him out there and see what he's made of. It worked for Peyton.

IMO that's our whole problem - we coach scared and play scared. Any decision has its risks. At this point, Moore appears to be crumbling under the pressure, and confidence is very important on the field.

Someone mentioned it earlier about Freeman. The Bucs took their lumps with him at QB. He's no Pro-Bowl QB (yet), but the progress he's made between Year 1 and 2 is obvious. The Panthers would do well to consider the same strategy, especially if Moore continues to struggle. Since it appears Clausen is the future at the QB position, this may be the year to see what he's got.

because he held onto the ball to long, the guy blizted atleast ten yds from the line of scrimmage and matt had his check down wide open with atleast 8 to 10 yds of open space
