However,(In a Stephen A. Smith Voice) I look at what happened with us last year and I look at what happened to the Patriots this year. Last year we lost Jake and I honestly think there were guys on the team that mailed it in. You look at the Pats losing their number 1 player, the MVP and so called best QB ever and they take a guy who hadn't started since high school and still win 11 games.

That does say a lot about the fire of Fox and the team. The Patriots came together while the Panthers fell apart.

It's tough because I really like John Fox. He worked a miracle in 2003 and I think some of us owe it to him to keep him around.

This team has a lot of talent and after the loss the the Cards I thought to myself hey stuff happens but the more I think about it there does need to be a change. I mean look at the absolute gold mine the Steelers fell into. I swear Mike Tomlin could talk me into suiting up a running through a brick wall. I think John Fox has lost the killer instinct he had when he arrived. I don't know if Fox needs to go the more I think about it maybe Cowher would light a fire under these guys but regardless we need a new DC. I mean Cowher went to Championship games with Kordell Stewart and Neil O' Donell. I mean Kordell and Jonathan are brothers...

I spoke to Fox this season and when I did i told him; "when you came in as our coach you told the team they wernt tough enough to win, what CAN YOU DO as a coach to make sure our guys are ready to play and show up on Sunday" (I think it was after the TB loss)

He got really offended, and took it as an insult. he said; "well you dont get it, these guys are ready, its not a matter of showing up, they always show up, but as you say we will practice and blah, blah, blah."

I agree with you.

I think he HAS lost his "edge"

Fans are like fickle girlfriends sometimes. Even if they've got a great guy already, they just can't help getting infatuated with someone new

Change just for the sake of change isn't a good thing. There is something to be said for continuity.

Bottom line for me? it wouldn't kill me if Fox were suddenly replaced, but I really don't see it happening, nor do I think there are strong reasons why it should.

It would suck. Unnecessary turmoil within the team could certainly wreck the fine players we have. Also, what would we expect of a new coach? If we told any prospects that hey, you better lead this team to a better record than 12-4 and then go deep in the playoffs your first year, they'd all run for the exit.

"change is good cause change is change"

:P

7-9 is not falling apart under those circumstances. It's funny, during that season, I remember all the retired football coaches and players talking on TV and radio about how amazed they were that Fox was able to lead the team to a 7-9 record, despite the horrible QB troubles the team had. Seems like people outside of the NFL have a different take . . .

This ISNT a FIRE FOX thread.

Its an evaluation of his relationship with the fanbase and how they judge his performance.

This team has seen its best years under his tenure, he has brought a lot of good to Carolina.

However, we should always evaluate our circumstances. It brings acountability in life.

The Patriots had a guy they'd been grooming in their system for years.

We had David Carr :(
