WTF is wrong with Carolina???

i wasn't expecting good things. i wasn't expecting ugly, though.

i had some optimism about the potential from this young team, more for the future of it rather than this year. i did think there was a possibility that they could look better than expected if the pieces fell together correctly. on defense and special teams it looked like that might be the case. not so sure about that defense anymore, though.

i feel better with the idea of clausen starting. that might be the spark that we need. still, the future was always going to be looking better than 2010.

Poor line play

Poor QB play

Poor playcalling

Poor offensive philosophy in general

Zero urgency to score until the 4th QTR

Bad use of talent and lack there of

agreed. i would add in the secondary. they haven't exactly been a strong point.

if clausen is taking over, it's very possible that some of our offensive woes might be getting better. that's my little sliver of hope at the moment.

Where do we start? I'll try.

1) Starts with the owner. JR cares about money, and more money. Didn't get WR help that we needed, or anything else. Also keeps the same lame-duck coaching staff for years at this point.

2) John Fox. Bad coaching, bad staff, bad all around.

3) Davidson. Horrible play calling, no talent, reject from another team, predictable as always. Shouldn't be a OC at the NFL level. Runs up the middle, over and over and over with only a couple outside runs. They already know we're going to run, at least mix up the runs, nope, not this guy.

4) Meeks. Not as bad as the others and I'd like to keep him around, but the defense looks bad, out of position, the secondary getting owned.

5) Other than Smith, not much WR help, which means Smith gets double teamed all game. Refer to cheap owner at the top.

6) No QB option at this moment. Moore is pretty terrible, over thrown passes, etc, Clausen may be good and I hope he gets a chance to start

7) O-line. Very bad, very bad. No holes, no pass blocking, any QB is going to have a problem in there. Otah is hurt but get used to it, he's an injury waiting to happen at all times.

8) Running. Well we can't run with no blocking, and you can't run when EVERYONE is predicting the play easily (everyone meaning fans at home, other teams players, coaches, anyone over 2 years old watching).

9) No heart other than Beason and a few others. Those hoping to see a reincarnated 2003 defense, it's not happening.

Did I miss anything?

All of the above except would add zero urgency to line up on the ball with under 5 minutes to play. The entire offense should have been hustling to the line.

Many more to add but I just got home from the game and still fuming.

    • I do not want nor have the energy to start a sanders vs BY topic..... Heres where Im at, what else is Titans Levi's or colts Arich going give in a trade...... Im no sanders fan, but it wouldn't bug me if caralas/Brandt/tepper/who____ wanted to go another route.....yes its been a QB whirlwind since ...to long.... still Im not sold on the skill and talent of one BY.   I think this is first year in many in which Carolina with have the same HC, QB, and GM. Its been a mess...
    • No one should be the least bit surprised by this organization doing powerfully stupid stuff. You don't accidentally achieve the worst record in the NFL since 2018, it takes consistently awful decisions to pull that off. And then the cherry on top of the dog poo sundae is that every year when we're closing in on a top 5 pick, here comes a couple of meaningless moral victories to fug that up. I'd be curious what percentage of our wins in the Tepper era have come when we're mathematically eliminated from the playoffs.
    • I think remember doing mock Sims for Carolina as many others, I don't think any of picked RBs in any rounds.... I honestly had the same "my team let me down" feels with the BY pick........just WHY all the holes and one of the spots were they have depth AND the RB market is at the lowest point in NFL history..... Just a    Per normal the huddle was for all for Zach Frazier, not me I wanted Marshawn Kneeland. Plus I wanted to REMAIN AT whatever LA pick and NOT TRADE UP FOR A ACL injuried RB. My friend was right, Dan did draft like he was still playing in his era..... ugh, Brandt and Dan cannot have that same problem this year......its beginning year 2 of a full 3 year rebuild..... for fugs sake, please find some talent and depth in later rounds....
