Could Charlotte fall out of love with Panthers?

just remembered a guy i work with cheers mainly for the panthers, but also the vikings as his second team because he grew up watching Fran Tarkenton.

No these are straight Vikings fans. Been like that all there lives. Its the second and 3rd generations that will be Panthers fans. Heck the only reason Im a Panthers fan is because I despise Dan Snyder. I was a Redskins fan til he bought them.

i get pissed at the carolina born people who won't switch their loyalty. i know you grew up watching pitt, dallas or whatever other team, but i don't care. most of the ones i meet have never even been to the state of their team, much less the city. so many middle to elderly aged idiots.

weren't you born outside the carolinas squirrel?

I still think its pretty fair weather to ditch the team in hardship, no matter the circumstances. Forget the owners and coaches. the players have nothing to do with that. its still our team. thats one reason im not going anywhere. you hate how they operate, disagree with it, and coach, but ditching the team is pretty weak.

I can see this happening. If not for the super bowl year we may of already been having talks about moving this team. That year got people really interested, and unfortunately, a young team like this (fan base age) needs winning seasons to keep people interested, at least this early on. The mediocre teams we've been putting out there for years is going to catch up with them. People want consecutive winning seasons, and it's not happening. Most people are OK with rebuilding, after 4-5 competitive winning seasons, but not after "every now and then we do ok" seasons. Without the history of Green Bay, or something like that, you can't weather a losing storm nowadays. We aren't Bears fans, or Celeveland fans, we won't take too much, we're not dedicated enough over decades. Like I said, without the Super Bowl, we'd be in the same boat as the Jags, maybe not as bad, but close.

Keep raising prices, losing, keeping bad coaches hired, keeping bad QB's in the game, and it's going to catch up with JR. And that crap about bottom half of the league, is not true, I think the Panthers are ranked #12 in value in the league, for a team with a smaller area than a lot of the other teams that's pretty good, and nowhere near the bottom. This is an excuse a guy who only cares about money makes, and I'm sorry, I think Richardson is one of those.

The fan base is getting stronger. Each year we feel less and less like the "new franchise" and more like a legitimate club. The younger generation of people living in Charlotte and the rest of the Carolinas is growing up with the Panthers rather than the older generation that moved to Charlotte with prior allegiances. I graduated from a public HS in Charlotte two years ago and pretty much everyone I know is a big fan. Give it time.

I'll be honest with you, I thought a couple seasons past when Jerry began experiencing his health issues there was a good chance the team could leave. His sons were pretty much running the operation and I always had the thought in the back of my mind that Mark wouldn't waste a second taking the team elsewhere.

I have absolutely no basis in fact to support such a notion, but reading the Charlotte area papers and listening to some folks I know that are close to the team, I felt this was a 400lb gorilla in downtown Charlotte nobody was talking about. I still believe this was a- not the major or only reason- but a reason nonetheless, the boys were ousted.
