Could Charlotte fall out of love with Panthers?

People are not taking into account that most people in Charlotte grew up cheering for other teams. Those allegiances are hard to break. Also, Charlotte is a transplant city with people from the northeast all the time. It will take our next generation to grow u true Panther fans for the deep rooted support (like the Skins, Steelers, Cowboys, etc) have.

That is all people.

Win. That's all this team needs to do to make the city "show" that it "loves" the team. Charlotte is a big city. I don't know what he expects. Hell, the Braves can't even fill their own stadium 90% of the season in Atlanta.

TRY!

Because you represent us.

JR dropped the ball this year on purpose. It may be business, he may be making a "stand" but Boldin AND Housh came to Baltimore cheap and we're just as big a market.

You CAN have two teams. I do, according to where I've lived, so what's the beef?

So hate the team when we lose, love it when we win, thats about right...it's called fair weather. The next time, we make the playoffs, whenever that may be, the huddle will overflow with new fans. I can't tell you how many people I knew became panther fans in 2008 and have been mia since. same in 2005 and 2003

Thats it. But it would help if the Panthers would win a superbowl.

Try what? I've been to every game the past six seasons. I support.

That said, perhaps the writer confuses Charlotte with the likes of Chapel Hill. There, you see Tar Heel flags everywhere, Tar Heel blue everywhere, people talk about the team everywhere you go. Well yeah, Chapel Hill is about as big as my closet, that's the only thing there (the school), and they don't have pro sports so they get behind their college teams. There's nothing else to do but drink.

Here, we have people that don't even like sports, people that like other NFL teams, people that like the NBA instead, people that only follow NASCAR, people who like the team but don't show outward support, etc. There is no way Charlotte will ever "lose interest" in the team. The NBA is a different breed. Much longer season. Of course we all went crazy when the Hornets FIRST came here. It was the city's first taste of pro-sports! They same can be said about Raleigh. Over time, the Hurricanes will not be as big of a deal as they have been recently. They'll still see sellouts (like we do for the Panthers), but the actual residents will cool on the team "outward support" wise.

This guy is a tool.

Shinn wanted to move the Hornets because he got in a snit over the arena and got busted harassing his cheerleaders. If he had stayed, they would till be a big ticket. It was all about the owner, not the fans.

To suggest that a similar event could happen with the Panthers just shows how ignorant of history the author is. Peter St. Onge is now firmly in the idiot column.

Really, If Shinn had kept the Hornets in Charlotte they would still be a big ticket? Dont think so people disliked Shinn and didnt want to pay to see his team play anymore. Shinn kept trading away the good players and not trying to contend (sounds familiar). If Richardson is hording money for a new stadium he is going to be in for a shock. BOA is only 15 years old taxpayers wont go for spending any money to help Richardson build a new one.

That is what the article is saying. Same thing Shinn did but without the scandals. Except Richardson will have PSL owner trouble if this happens.

Heck I'm all the way in Wilmington and almost everyone here is a vikings, cowboys, or eagles fan. Only one Redskins fan lol

i've not really seen any vikings fans down here. one of the few i haven't. pretty much every yankee team has some fans here though. mostly shittsburg but also eagles, giants, pats and even the bills. and those cowboy fans are just the middle school drop outs from our state that are too stupid to switch their loyalty to the home team. you can tell'em i said that.
