Steve Smith Vs. Aqib Talib is key

I guess you didn't see Brian Price dominate our pro-bowl RG in training camp. Or Gerald McCoy wreaking havoc on every play in week one. Did you notice that Roy Miller led all rookie DTs in tackles and sacks last year? And he was our third DT.

Seriously??? They must have been really dominating with their combined 7 tackles and 0 Sacks against the lowly Browns.

Yeah and Miller had 2 sacks last year. It just goes to prove that rookie defensive linemen usually play pretty poorly as rookies. Just like McCoy will play this year. He might be good in a few years but won't have 3 sacks in 2010. I remember hearing the same thing from the Saints about Sedrick Ellis and he flopped his rookie year as well.

Oh, and that other guy you forgot. Joe Thomas, you know the all-pro? I never said you had to give two shits about our d-line, I just said they were going to dickslap your joke of an o-line on Sunday

Are the Buccs lining McCoy up at RDE? Didn't think so. That means that on probably about 99% of all plays from the LOS McCoy was being blocked by one, and possibly two, of those three.

Sorry about the ommision of the internet, I am sure that all 52 members of your MB got together at jjbjeff's house and watched the game on his Altair 8800.

I think one more neg and you become troll.

Well I didn't talk smack outside of the smack forum, and I'm just stating my opinion here so I don't know what to tell you.

McCoy had 3 tackles and 1 ff against Cleveland

McCoy disrupted 3 or 4 pass play directly, one of which, Delhomme flipped backwards to a HB just before his knee hit the ground. Sacks are a bad stat for determining the impact a DT is having on the passing game anyway, unless you are Warren Sapp or John Randle.

no one is beating steve smith 1 on 1 buddy.

Aqib Talib will.

happy?

So what for about 15 snaps McCoy was lined up on Thomas? How many of those snaps did a LB come off the edge on the left side that Thomas had to slide to? How many of McCoys amazing 3 tackles came when Thomas was blocking him? How many of McCoys 0 sacks were accomplished in that formation?

Actually you were the one bringing up sacks not us. As for whatever happens with Jake, you forget who you are debating with. We got rid of Jake becuase he totally lost it. I know he was a huge Buc killer but that was years ago not now. How many hurries did he have last week? I couldn't find a site that credited him with any.

So when you DTs have no sacks and few tackles now it is a bad stat. You are pretty funny.

Tim Crowder beat Thomas to force 1 int. Thats about all the pressure we got against Thomas, but I don't recall saying that McCoy dominated Thomas. All of McCoy's QB pressures were while playing UT, but 3-4 DE's aren't really expected to directly pressure the quarterback.

No you never said that you just insinuated it when I brought up the fact that the Browns interior OL is made up of scrubs.

I don't doubt that McCoy has the tools to be a dominate force one day. I wouldn't go crowning him the king of anything though after one game against the Browns. Personally I think Price will end up being a far better DT in the NFL than McCoy will.
