What do you think about determinism/Predestination?

Hmmmmm. I thought about this when I heard that if you time travel, and change the past, you actually traveled to a different universe where that event never happened (or happened in another way), which made me think.....how did the Universe know you were going to change that event?...Unless...the Universe already knows its future, your future etc, and it would already know you would go back in time in the first place. Anybody here that gets Deja Vu, it seems so real. When you cut yourself, your body heals itself by itself...God forbide it was actually up to US to heal our own cuts....so your brain would know more things and do more things than you can even....dream of (pun intended) and maybe it can just predict the future. IDK....me and my crazy theories......

Honestly, I'm undecided. I do think there's a path, but not necessarily that everything is predetermined.

Are we talking about a determinism as in the Judeo-Christian omnipotent, omniscient, benevolent God sense?

If we are... it's impossible to prove determinism without proving the existence to God and every God proof I've read has been more successfully rebutted than it has been constructed.

But since time only travels in one direction time travel into the past is physically impossible. The only way it could conceivably happen is with the parallel/alternate universe theories.

The theory of alternate universes makes sense to me. I just think of it like simple math. Take the graphing of functions in 3D space. A function can be shifted anywhere in 3D space by changing a constant value, but the base function remains the same. If you think of your choices like the "constant", then you would essentially be creating a new reality by "shifting" the "function" into a new fold in space.

Or maybe I've just dozed off too one too many history channel specials. :crazy:
